First I would like to preface this thread by saying that I am one of those bounty hunters that do not hunt my own faction (imperial), mostly out of respect to my guild (which has several jedi) and the relationships my guild has with other imperial guilds. With that being said, let me get to the question at hand:
So the other night I was on the lookout for a potential target at a popular grind spot for both jedi and non-jedi. After searching the area I can only find one non-imperial jedi out grinding. No problem right? Well, he happens to be in a grinding group with a guildmate of mine. So, I drive off after spotting the guy to find a Terminal. At the same time I tell my guildmate that I want to kill the jedi with him. He asks me not to do it. Well, I find his mission and he is a lowly 84ker. I got excited over the easy money. Its rare for me to find easy marks outside in the open like this and I haven't killed a jedi worthless than200k in weeks. Basically I get in a discussion with my guildmate about me wanting to kill him and he not wanting me to... and in the process the Jedi leaves the hunting group without my guildmate noticing. The guy goes offline and I lost an easy 84k.
The question is, considering this is an opposing faction jedi, should I have even asked? Did I do the right thing by asking or should I have just killed the guy outright?

Ironic how "wrong" it is to hunt your own faction, howevermost jedi ofboth faction are out helping one another out leveling in the same group. Is there really a difference? A Rebel can aide an Imperial Jedi get toJediKnightso that the Imperial can then be good enough to turn around and kill Rebels. There is nothing more hypocrytical to me then for a Rebel Jedi to complain to mefor killing my own faction when they are at the same time in a group with an Imperial leveling up. Anyone see this irony....or is it just me?
This is why I say screw most BH ethics and hunting of your own faction. Kill them all!

Well, I dont necessarily feel that it is wrong to hunt your own faction. I personally just dont do it, mostly so as not to interfere with the relationship my guild has with other imperial guilds.

Why didn't the guildy want you to kill him anyway? Does your guild have rules for hunting jedi?

He didn't want me to kill him because he had a good hunting group going and:
1) He didnt want to get accused of setting the jedi upand getting booted from the group
2) He also didnt want me tointerrupt his hunt.
I understand his points. Also, in defense of my guildie, I want to state the he wasn't adamant in his position. His response was basically "Kill him if you want, but please dont."

I would have hunted him, especially if the terminals were slim pickings for you. I hunt all faction even though I am Imperial, but I am not in a guild or city, actually I dont even have any friends on the server I BH on.

I would of killed him. '
He asked you not to so it would mess up his gameplay. And by him askng you not to, he messed up yours.
Unless your guild has a rule about it.
The question should of been, why didn't he notify you of this jedi the minute he saw him?

just be polite... don't use foul language and taunts... remember it's just a game... when you kill em, bow or tip hat, pull your speeder, and get the hell outa dodge without saying a word (looks pimp too), and if you get smoked... get over it.
If you dont' care about factions... hunt whoever you like. But be prepared for a verbal onslaught. Also, go by your word... if a jedi pays you off... don't kill him anyway. And if they want to b!tch.... use /addignore.
By the way... you'll probably find more often than not it's the people WITH the jedi that b!tch... not the jedi.

Kill them all, regardless of faction or who they're grouped with. If ethics were a factor we'd be priests instead of Bounty Hunters.

Is it only me that thinks that all Bounty Hunters should be nuetral? Because if your going to be in a faction you should support that faction fully. i think this is the main reason that the GCW does not and will not ever work. It is to wishy washy. Either your a Reb an Imp or nuetral. I think you should only be allowed to group with your own faction once you declared a side in the struggle.

If your guild has a rule on hunting same faction, follow it.
However, in this instance, our guild would have brough up the fact that this guildmate was shielding a rebel Jedi from a guildmate. His loyalty should have been to the guild, not to an opposing faction person of any faction.
For example, had I been the one in the group, you send me a /tell with his name, my first reaction would have been to tell you the best time to hit him, as his health was low, or whatever.
And I am both jedi and BH.
I would expect that kind of thing, myself.

Looks like I may have an unpopular opinion but it has happened to me several times and I dropthe mission. My list of reasons for doing thisis short, respect of the wishes of my guildmate. Now if I was not close to my guildmate or didn't really care (which doesn't sound like your situation) then kill away. I have actually dropped missions on jedi because a close friend asked me to but usually they just send me a tell to not talk to them while I am there so they won't getkicked out of the group.
