Thread: Need Advice for Bounty Hunter Mission's
I tank em as MBH/TKM/Commando4000......KD when I can, Dizzy, Armor Break, then spam Melee Strike and Melee Hit as my Combo Attack is set as default.............in between that I pop a Stim-D and toss in a grenade if there's no other mobs around to aggro. Only food I use is Arisha and I make sure I have CoB running along with a good Powerboost. Takes a bit, but it gets the job done.
Now as a ranged BH......from what I gather and hear in guildchat from my guildies is make sure you bring some Stim-D'sand that you have some sort of Root special. Kite them, Root, and Heal while you have Duelist Stance running..........A lilMedic might also give you a good edge.
I hope this helps you out at least some..........happy hunting!
I'd have to say you might need a change of template...
It's pretty tough to take down any high level/elite rangedenemy post cu. Clearly rooting them has bugger all effect since they can shoot you from just as far away as you can, unless you have a ranged cyborg arm(I do recall reading somewhere that BH marks don't often pull out rifles though, so if you want to kite them get a rifle!).
To play it safe get some medic and as pretty much everyone here has said - carry some stims.
I'm sure you wanted to become MSmuggler for RP purposes. However, with that template, even Stim Ds won't take you far enough. You should master at least one other ranged or melee (TKA seems fine, but MPistoleer for you is better).

I took my first couple of npc missions and deliberately aimed low by picking up the cheapest missions. At first I could just about take down the 6-7k ham targets but i would be stuck if i had a boss with his name in brackets or even a double-bracket elite and had to abort a few missions after a couple of incaps to avoid getting killed.
The main reasons I realised i couldn't compete were due to
1) Lack of medic skills
2) Armour - Padded is ok but you need to be using composite despite the 30% walking speed reduction
3) Weapon - you need to spend money and understand your weapons which i didn't.
4) Food - just popping some booster blue and hoping for the best is no good.
5) Skills - using them effectively as well as watching the timers and your action.
First thing i addressed was the medic problem. I had no intention of dropping smuggler to invest in medicine skills and the few points i could get back from dropping boxes i still had which i had yet to learn the inv boxes weren't enough to get even novice medic anyway. Solution: Ruby biel and the best Stim D's you can find. Ruby biel lowers your stim reuse time by half to 30 seconds. I kept a stim D on the toolbar so i can check by the countdown timers when i can re-use it and ruby biel underneath it for quick access as I drink it as soon as i use the stim in a fight so i can heal and give myself more time to put the mark down. Doing this on its own isnt good enough either. You'll still be in trouble if you're not taking action to prevent yourself being hit so much or so hard as well.
Secondly armour. Get the best you can afford. You're a smuggler so you can slice it to whatever format suits you. Impact hardening, damage reduction, extended condition etc. Its not as if you dont have the kits for it as most npc marks drop at least one. I have a house full now and you can convert your old smuggler kits into simple toolkits or finely tuned kits too. Those are the first two bits required in most of the three stage slices anyway.
Thirdly weapon. You need to be hitting them hard and quickly so do not compromise on paying out for a gun thats going to do the job. You're a smuggler so pick up a renegade pistol and slice it up for speed. Ideally you want a max damage/low SAC one which you can find on vendor search usually. A nice FWG as a non-smuggler weapon will probably also do you good if you can get one. The important thing is the low action cost (SAC) and the high max damage as you can lower the speed yourself and use all your customisation in that if the other parts are capped or nearly. I paid 1 mill for a krayted gun which has something like 932 max damage and 81 SAC. I have the modified speed down to something like 1.27. The reasoning for this is when you engage a mark - particuarly the boss ones - you will be trying to take them down as quick as you can to make up for your lack of medic ability so you dont want to be running out of action if you can help it. Some npc's hit damn hard.
Forth food. This is one of the most important areas to focus on. I use blob candy for action regen and pikkata pie for the dodge bonus. I drink two drinks i cant recall the names of right now but they increase accuracy and range defense by about a minute or so for something like +198 as i dont plan on engaging a mark for longer than that if I can help it. I also drink Breath of Heaven for the health buff and boost to other stats regen. I'll also have a booster blue handy to use in an emergency but wont use it unless i have to as it will buff your health, action and mind but will cause a 20% drop in health regen which might work out to be critical if you're putting yourself in for a long fight. If you come up against your average 6-7k mark that is going down inside 15 seconds then you probably wont need to use all the above and can avoid it as food can be rather expensive. But always give yourself the option by having it ready.
Finally tactics. Keep your favourite shots on your toolbar and use the timers effectively. Pressing escape will cancel any action that you have queued which you dont want to wait for so you can use something else if its ready. I will use the KD shot on first attack and then pop a critical hit for max damage potential then a head hit while he's getting up again. Then its torso shot to stick a bleed on him followed by blind/stun as it seems to lower the damage you take when they fire back. Some hit you harder than others so keep an eye on your combat log and adjust accordingly. 30 seconds after he's KD then you can do it again and use your critical shot while he's on the ground as it hurts more. Usually i should put your average CL81 mark with 7k ham away inside of the minute and sometimes a lot quicker. I'm no expert on this by any means though so adjust your methods to suit your play style.
All this is geared around being a smuggler but some of it could be useful to a new BH starting out. Being prepared is the absolute key to winning i find. It's better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it.

No need to master anything whatsoever, the mark will be based on your level. However TKA smuggler combo is a pretty tricky one when it comes to advanced marks and making this work without any medic will be very tough.
Also ***** for above post
