Thread: A step for a compromis

As we all know, they servers are overrun with Jedi. In my opinion, this profession should be the strongest and rarest. To become a Jedi is way to easy. I accessed the village in less than a month. Then it is followed by 18 weeks of quests. After that, your a Jedi. I might have a solution to help with the population. I thought up of many ways to help keep it even so no profession gets screwed.


1. Bring back Perma Death.

As a jedi and a bh I know jedi is too weak for perma death to be reinstated, that only worked when jedi was God mode. Also soe has turned jedi into a marketing advertisement so i can't forsee perma death ever returning.

The orginal idea by the devs was to lose your Jedi charactor after three deaths. This will help the overpopulatednewbees and inexperienced from having a strong profession.


2. Perma Death can only be caused by Bounty hunters.

Pretty much what it says. After three deaths by a BH on a bounty mission, you lose you Jedi. Dying by a creature, in space, and/or PvP shouldn't have an impact since many of us dies while doing on of these action.


I know, I'm hearing the whinning of Jedi about being hunted and how unfair it is. That's one reason I think the Jedi class should be stronger. I feel that the visiblity exist for a reason and Jedi should be punished for their mistakes. Don't get me wrong about this. I like the profession and want to become a Jedi myself, but something needs to be done about it. To help protect the Jedi, here's a suggestion.


1. When a a BH attacks a Jedi in a group, the group should be able to attack back to help protect the Jedi.


It's just idea, any thoughts?

SOE tried permadeath. It doesn't work. Permadeath is permadead.

It's the purpose of perma death is to lose your charactor, as in he is dead and can't be used ever again. They would still have the second charactor that was created, and if they wish, could make that toon a jedi too. After the second toon is a Jedi, open another slot and so on. I quit before a Jedi was created, so I don't know the details behind the situation.

That's even harsher than the original permadeath scheme. I wouldn't count on that flying.

Would never fly ever again, and the devs have already stated that this will never happen again.


I can see the lawsuits happening now. BH takes jedi mission. BH knocks down jedi, and spams startle shot. Jedi can't fight back. Jedi dies, and is no more. OR. BH gets to jedi. BH's friend spams /offerride to jedi. Jedi's computer crashes. He relogs on, and jedi is no more. OR. BH gets to jedi. Jedi logs off before the BH is even in sight. Due to bug, jedi is moved outside the house, since he loged next to the door. Jedi logs in and is no more. OR. Jedi gets a group together on the Corvette or the DWB. Everything is fine. Until the jedi is close to dying. At that point, the BH kills the jedi. Jedi is no more. (Actually this one is just good tactics, but harsh result.)


I've spent the last 2 years making a good reputation on my server. What perma death would do is to wipe that all out in one mistake.

Used to be that when you unlocked your second character was automatically a Jedi. Suffer permadeath and your second character died, but you could start over...as a Jedi.

Curiosity kills... why would you really care if a newbie has a Jedi. Not like he'd be too hard to kill. Also, someone who is inexperienced is more likely to die. Therein they are unlikely to gain experience to be able to avoid permadeath.


Perma-Death died forseveral reasons: client crashes, an imperfect internet, busted skills, et al.


It won't come back for the same...

Except now, the jedi post pub 9 I think, is automatically the main character. Not the secondary character.
