definately respec the 4000...if you don't have combat skills that lines a pain in the rear because theres currently a bug where bounty hunter npc missions don't correctly reflect their actual difficulty

hehe I had the exact same problem. Was lvl 22 getting lvl 54 NPC.
Answer, level everything else first and then do the investigation tree.
Tip: do not train the first investigation tree until you're close to your cap (10k). Then train box 1 and 2 and you'll be well into box 3.

I don't mean BH NPC mission I mean go to a regular mission terminal and take some missions to get xp

keep the template you have and just grind out rifles. You may never know the pain of investigation, but who cares, it is just that, a pain. I mean it is fun in its own way, but after you get all that rifle and weapons XP and finish your combat boxes, you move to investigation and will curse the day you didnt respec investigation. Plus as everyone has stated Inv mission are kind of bugged now and actually are just buggy anyways. You can always find a group on Dant and grind out rifles.

Don't get rid of Inv line. You respec'd the toughest line so now just get into some groups and level up you weapons lines. Once you get around CL 54 or so you can do NPC missions if you want to, but with Inv line done why bother? I'd say keep group hunting until you finish your template.

And when it was said "get regular missions" it was meant creature missions form regular mission terms, not BH missions.
Keep what you have and grind out rifles and the combat lines in BH now.
You had the right idea.

Yep, you need to grind out those weapon boxes first, then you should be good.
And to Killa kel...you have obviously never even seen a bottle of Henny, at least spell it right.

Ok guys its time for another session of garrat is helpless and desperate! 
So I hate to admit is but I am (sort of) a respec BH. I earned it though. I played back in the day when to be BH you needed to be Master Scout and Master Marksman. So I decided to respec in the wisest way i knew possible. I still have 2 weeks to "re-respec" if you will so help me out please!

I respecced all my points from Mmarks and Mscout like this:
Explore 4 and Ranged Support 4 (that gives me BH) Then I have several points left I decide I want to specialize in rifles so i spec rifles 4 for rifleman. The rest of the points I know I want all for BH. I have enough to fill 4 BH boxes. At first i say well .. logically i should just get all 4 tier 1 abilities.. but then i thought maybe not. I heard that the Investigation line was a real pain in the ass to level so I said what the hell ill just go for invest 4. So i put all the rest of the points into invest 4. So the final respec template looks like this
Marks 4004 Scout 4000 BH 4000
I thought this would be fine the invest line was done how hard can it be. So i go to try a Bounty Hunter mission i get the first one and it is a complete success. However this luck would not show up again.I am currently Combat Level 26 and all the BH missions I get say "DIFFICULTY 20" i figure this means CL 20 approx?.. I try another BH mission.. toast.. i try again.. wasted.. I continue to bite the dust in this manner.. all the Marks are too hard for me to kill except for apparently those RARE marks JUSThigher than me. Other than that they all say "So and so looks like an instant death" And thats exactly what they are, instant deaths. Am i playing incorrectly or is my lack of success due to the fact that I specced full investigation and nothing else? Is the mission terminal basing the difficulty of my missions off of my invest level? If it is then i should respec right? If so to what? If not is it jsut that i need to start levelling up rifleman to get a higher CL? Thanks again guys!
I know its legnthy but I appreciate the help!! BTW I am on naritus.

If you already have Invest IV, you don't need to do those missions. What you need to do now is go to the Dantooine Mining Outpost and group up. Then go out there with the group and start whacking Pikets, Bols, Etc...with the group. You need to level your BH skills and Rifle Skills before you'll have a chance at anything.

Forget BH missions bro - that's the whole point in taking the Investigation line with your respec aside from time. Get into hunting groups and get all your weapons lines done and mastered first. By the time you are ready to work on your master box you will hopefully have decided on what the remainder of your template is going to be and then you can rinse and repeat the group hunting until you are a finished template.
They need to fix the NPC bounties regardless because at CL80 the NPC bounties are ridiculously easy. If they fixed that I might be content to hunt NPC only since after Pub20 Jedi missions won't really be paying much more than the NPC missions anyway.

As far as respecing you did the right thing, inv xp takes forever andcombat xp is easy to get. So like the other posters said get in a group and kill things and when you finish your template you will be all ready to kill jedi. Good luck and welcome.

Just need to grind the rest of ur combat stuff first...or wait for pub 20 wen they are supposed to fix that issue. By the time pub 20 goes through tho u could probably be close to completing the rest of ur stuff
