I started grinding INV 1 at lvl 22...lol. SoI had to be creative. I used easy marks, city guards, and probots to get my kills in. My question is about probots vs jedi. If you had the time to get in place and set up a good offensive probot. Would it be worth anything at all against a jedi? I thought at the least it might be a momentary distraction in some situations.

Well, let's say the mark is standing somewhere. If you set up the probot south of him, then you go north of him, and both of you open fire... he'll have to choose whether he wants to attack the probot or you. If he goes for the probot, he'll take it out quick but he'll waste time going over there... and in that time, he's not attacking you. If he just attacks you, the probot does about 100 damage to him at a fairly quick rate. 100 isn't a ton, but imagine your weapons +100 damage, which is what it would essentially do.
Couldn't hurt to bring one, just don't get too attached to the thing.

Well, I'm CL 80 now with a MBH, MC, Pistol 0004 template...so I'm semi prepared. I'm only 3 weeks into the game, and I didn't sell my barc...so I'm not into 'uber gear' yet. I haven't run a single jedi mark yet, but I've been stocking up on the usuals..stims, spice, good food, high dmg/low sac carbine, and 65m range carbine. I just don't wanna go flying off on my first mark without any back up. I mean I'm not expecting anything...I just don't wanna make a fool outta myself. I just feel like when you pull the trigger on a pvp mark you are making a bold statement about your pvp abilities and if you can't at least make it a good fight then you shouldn't interrupt someone's grind for nothing...you know?

Nah, open fire even if you do suck. Fighting people is the only way you're ever going to learn PvP. Everybody sucks in the beginning without experience.

I have a very old probot from the DE upgrade months ago. I'm not sure if a "pre-nerf" droid is any better than a post-18 one (as I recall, droid armor etc got some looking into), but he's CL 30 with 3k health. I don't believe the PvP reduction is in effect for droids, so he gets creamed pretty quickly in a fight.
However, I still use him frequently. If you send a droid in first, yes, they do prove as a distraction. Most Jedi have grown accustomed to having a player, or even a creature pet, jump them, but when they see a droid go after them they usually hesitate for a few seconds... and that can be vital.
I know it isn't much, but he does hit for about 120 damage every 1-2 seconds. While no where near what I'm able to dish out, every little bit helps. He's come in handy for some AFK MDefs on the Rryat trail, simply because where normally I get him down to 100 health right before his heal macro does its thing, now I'm able to just barely pull off the incap.
I had toyed with the idea of having a tank droid made with some self-healing modules. This way I could send him onto cloakers and keep him within 5m to prevent the cloak. Of course the Jedi would figure that out pretty fast and just kill the droid, which is why I was hoping self-heals would help out. Unfortunately after conversing with the DE corro, I found that there really wasn't a way for a droid to out heal a Jedi's damage, so I never tried it out.
But yeah, basically, if you have a nice droid, go ahead and send him in. He might help out just a little, but you never know if that will be the difference in the fight. Biggest thing is, your droid is expendable, so don't interupt your "thing" by trying to do different stuff with the droid.

Consider a droid as a "bleed" shot. Your droid is ticking 100-120 dmg and mine hits fast. It usually hits 2xs my one. So, figure your damage plus 200pts and that's quite a punch.
It also helps to have a bunch of crap in between you and your target. The more junk out there the better the chance they might goof on targeting you.

Any suggestions on a config for a droid if I were to get a new one made? My buddy won't run bounties with me, but he's all about some crafting...he's a droid engineer who made my first probot to help me out solo. The one I have has a repair module on it, but the thing takes so long to repair I'd rather have something else offensive/defensive in there. I can always fix him up after the fight. To bad I actually have to have trapping skills to use a trap in the droid.

dunno if this has been mentioned but probots and nonch pets can be very useful in my opinion..since when you group with them they become your lvl (which is lvl 80 for you) the pet can tank for you while you do damage.
