Bounty Hunter Archive
Thread: Funny Stuff
This was posted over on the Flurry boards, the server I'm on. It was originally a discussion about what Krayt Tissues can do for weapons, but it turned into a mini AT-ST spat. Anyways, Grym, one of the best weaponsmiths on Flurry send something that had me laughing to tears, and oh so true for us riflemen!

Was going to hunt some (Krayt Dragons)with 10 of my friends, but when we got near the place, it was being camped by 3 AT-STs controlled by 2 bounty hunters.
AT-ST is destroying PVE as much as it is PVP. The madness has to stop.
"Sir, I'd like to requisition two AT-STs."
"That's a tall order, cadet. What's the MO?"
"To kill a large lizard, sir."
Next post, Grymreaper:
"Now why in sam hell would you want to kill a large lizard, cadet?"
"Sir! We can use its tissues to make devastatingly powerful pistols!"
"A pistol? Isn't that a bit small? Why not use one of them huge T21's?"
"Permission to speak freely, sir!"
"Granted."
"T21's suck, sir! The smaller the weapon, the more powerful it is!"
"Now that doesn't make a lick 'a sense! Next you're gonna be telling me they mount carbines on Star Destroyers, and a Laser Rifle is the main armament of the Death Star!"
"No, sir! Imperial Star Destroyers mount a full array of Scout Blasters, and the main cannon on the Death Star is a Scatter Pistol. They need a bounty hunter to pull the trigger though, because if anyone else does it only deals 10 damage, sir!"
Ok, now that everyone's hada chance at a laugh, here's what's not so funny. Again, quoting Grym:
"Like I said, it takes a horde of tissues to make the "bigger" weapons. It's far more productive to make 11 bad ass pistols than 1 T21. Plus, the tissue enhancement is static. If you have 11 tissues that give +30 dmg, and you use them on a T21, you'll get only +30 damage when it's all said and done. The enhancements are not cumulative with each one used. You only get the bonus once. So, unfortunately, not only does it take a large ammount more tissues to make the bigger guns, it also has less effect. Adding +30 or +55 damage to a gun that has around a 2 second speed is a much better improvement than adding that same damage to a gun with 4, 6, or even an 8 second speed. "
Grym's referring to the fact that pistols require-one- Krayt DragonTissue to enhance a pistol. The-same- amount of damageenhancement takes-eleven- Krayt Dragon Tissues to enhance a T21. Again, the same-damage- enhancement. Take into account that pistols have a much quicker reload, and you have instant incredible inbalance of pistol and rifle DPS, -again-.
This is incredible, riflemen. Incredible. We get less from more. I just sit here and try to contemplate who's pushing the buttons on projects like these. Do they have a clue?
But Aldeon, not everyone's a master rifleman!
And still, a 1 to 11 ratio. We have to give 1100% more to achieve the same effect?

ive been playing for two monthes and im just about there, 2 more boxes to go =). i don't mean to flame aldeon at all cuz he's answered many of my questions usually indirectly through other posts, and he knows his stuff. but i mean come on man not all of us are up there yet, and some won't make it. seems like everyday theres a new post on this board about a rifleman throwing down his rifle and picking up a pistol instead =(
Sweet, I'm two boxes away too. Lets race, hehe =).
And I also think Aldeon's a cool guy. I just wish he would have addressed the 11 to 1 indifference and taken into account that not everyone has as much time to level their characterslike myself and others who have made or are approaching master. Some people have kids to be with, taxing jobs to handle, and significant others.
11 to 1, why? Maybe in a fantasy world where Riflemen are purposely the superior class, could I see this, but the devs rightfullystrive to make the pistoleer = carbineer = rifleman, why this imbalance? It already costs more to make a T21 which has the same DPS of any scout blaster.
If there is some reason I'm not paying attention to, can it possibly justify 11 to 1?
