Thread: Ok, so what is the big deal with the new BH armor?

that was not meant to sound like the lead in of a Jerry Seinfeld joke... but seriously, am I missing something in regards to this new BH armor?

It has like 5K energy resistance. Lightsabers must tear through it. The Tantel Recon armor I am wearing right now has 7.7K energy resistance. Not only that, but it cost me 250K for the suit. I've been selling the BH schematics for 300K a pop. A buddy of mine sold an entire set of this BH armor for 5 mill!

Am I missing something here? As far as I can tell it looks cool, but has bad stats.

This is just my observation and my opinion, but the new BH armor is just a appearance schematic of assault armor. This armor is geared toward NPC bounty hunting. NPCs, if you notice, use kinetic attacks most of the time, whether it be ranged or melee. At least it seems that way to me. Not sure what your second profession is, but I would suggest something that will allow you to wear battle or recon with high energy protection if you plan on hunting jedi.

Well I am MBH/MRifles, and like I said, wear Tantel that has 7.7K energy resistance that I use for fighting Jedi. I was just wondering if there was something special about this armor because it sells for an insane rate.

Also, I was under the impression NPCs use energy, and creatures use Kinetic. I could be wrong, so please let me know if that is not the case.

No offense to the OP, but you can not know the stats of ALL BH armor. I'm so tired of every new BH asking me, "what are the stats on Bounty Hunter Armor?". IT'S JUST ASSAULT ARMOR. THE STATS CAN BE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ASSAULT ARMOR.

Everyone thinks that energy is what they need protected against. What if you are hunting Krayt or GDKs? Assault armor is for critters that do kinetic damage. My set is 8k kin protection. I use it to hunt creatures not Jedi.

Think about RIS. What is so special about RIS? It's somewhat rare. It's stats are no better than any other battle armor. It's the rare/cool factor. Same reason that a Barc sells for more than a swoop. The same reason a Black Sun helmet cost 30 million plus.

Creatures, for the most part, use kinetic damage unless they have a ranged spit or something. That could be a different damage type or special.

NPCs have random damage depending on what they are using for a weapon. From my very unscientific testing with my energy layered battle armor and my kinetic assault armor. Switching back and forth with the armor seems to show that the kinetic armor provides more protection.

Regardless, just to make sure, I always take my marks to melee, which has proven to be all kinetic damage so far.

Right...people just want to be among the first to wear the armor. The "cool" factor is what makes it popular right now. The real value of the armor will be what AAs you put into it and any other custimizations, like healing bonuses and the like.

No offense taken Mallize, actually you answered my question. The cool factor. Hey, I think it looks great too, but if I can sell it for 5 mill I'd rather do that.I have some good energy resist armor, and good kinetic resist armor. I switch between the two and am fine with it.

It looks cool, it's not mass produced. That's it. Otherwise it's crap armor. No better than Composite if you focus on Kinetic and can hit like 6K Energy 5K Kinetic if you focus on Energy. I wear it for show and switch to 8K Ubese (2K PSG for the 10K Energy Max) when I get to the mark. It's simply for show for me.

Also, maybe it just me, but I disagree that most marks use kinetic attacks. They virtually never close to melee (unless you close on them) and of the 100+ I've done in the last couple of weeks, most are using Energy based weapons (of course double gold O-Pi Aby kicked my ass when he pulled out a Striker and started shredding my Ubese...still remember his name). If they do pull the kinetics out, I simply burst run away and switch to the composite. I would never where BH armor into battle...it's too costly to replace and does not give you any advantage over the cheaper Composite.

No. Only looted pieces can be crafted in Mando. Not the schems.

It's not crap armor. Come on guys... different armor serves different purposes. It's for high kinetic encounters. It is VERY GOOD for hunting GDKs and Krayt. Even Night Sisters, since they like to run up and bang on you.

AGAIN, it is not the best for hunting NPC marks or Jedi. It IS VERY GOOD for creatures and melee encounters.

It looks cool, and it's new...and it's not crap at all, it just depends on how you want to layer it, and what you want to hunt with it.
