Bounty Hunter Archive
Thread: Elite Bounty Hunter Class I think its time we get something like that
- Special secret training location (on Dath, Endor or Yavin).
- Super secret Trainers in cities.
- Special super secret mission terminals disguised as Bothan Diplomats.
- Extra defenses that don't rely upon a 30 second macro timer (duelist stance on roids). Extra melee skills too thatso if a jedi gets too close we can head butt them in the nose.
- Access to other class weapons like flame throwers and rocket launchers and fishing poles and knucklers.
- New higher than 80 weapons that crafters need to do special quests for EACH time they want to make a new Kabillion Happiness Pistol (or whatever).
- These new weapons (kabillion happiness pistol, red bologna rifle, etc..) require rare loots that have stats that drop off of high level mobs. Only BH and smugglers can tell if the loots are any good, this way we can hoodwink the unsuspecting populous out of the loot that they are too feeble to understand.
- Cool new skills like healing, toughness, hiding in shadows, ability to avoid being knocked out, tracking, pets,etc...
- Cool armor and not that silly Mando that takes 400 years to get (No full suits on Wanderhome yet cause people just don't want to go to that God forsaken hell hole, particularly crafters, for armor thats smelly.)
- Traps and other gadgets and snares and other huntery stuff.
- Hats - we need cool hats. There are no cool hats in this game. All the hats suck. Especially leather armor helmets, marauder armor helmets, and decorative hats. We need stuff like Indiana Jones hats. Whips too. Whips would make for awesome melee weapons too.
- We need to be able to land our Firesprays on the planet wherever we want. This way, we could track the mark from space and just set her down somewhere in the desert or something cool like that.
- Sammiches for all Elte Master BHs. At least something yummy so we can wait out the jedi that are sitting inside their airstream wating for us to leave.
Ok, that's all I got right now. Might add some more tomorrow.
Good night.

Well, since this game seems to be going to hell in a hand basket, I think its time to ask for an Elite bounty Hunter class.
This class would require all of our skillpoints, but endow us with the abilities that, if properly played, can take down full template jedi. Jedi will soon get their FRS, so now we Bounty Hunters should get something similar.
I don't mind if its hard to get or anything like that, but make it worth getting and make it so that Bounty Hunters at this levelcan beat a full template jedi, again, if well played.
Stuff that should go into the Elite Bounty Hunter class:

I guess I am just looking for something that can help balance out what I think the coming ner... um, changes to the terminals will bring.
No more alpha classes!!!
Isn't seeing one mess this game up enough???

That's the whole problem. There is only one alpha classat this time. That's why the game is a mess.

I THINK OF BOUNTY HUNTERS AS JUST ANOTHERCOMBAT CLASS, NOTHING SPECIAL. WE DONT NEED TO BE "ELITE" WE JUST NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET THE JOB DONE. IF YOU HAVE TO BE "ELITE" TO GET THE JOB DONE, WELL JUST IMPROVISE OR GET ANOTHER JOB. WE ARE SCUMWITH GUNSNOT THE JEDI'S EQUAL.

Heh... the groundswell is building for a whole series of beyond-Master elite classes. Maybe my lobbying for a whole series of "Legends of the Galaxy" extensions is starting to pay off....
But why stop with Bounty Hunter? How about these:
- Legendary Teras Kasi Master: He who is to TK what Bruce Lee is to a 1st-Dan black belt...
- Smuggler: Master Alchemist: Just what was Exar Kun onto, anyway? The Legendary Smuggler gets to find out! Unlock altered states of being! Discover terrifying Jekyll/Hyde elixirs! And maybe, just maybe... find a way to partially bridge the gap between this crude material world and the mystical world of the Force, and transform yourself into a being that is partiallypure energy....
- Smuggler: Crime Lord: Combined with Master Politician, the Master Smuggler can also unlock an alternative career if he so chooses: Bumping off that fat slug and taking his place! Find out just why those crazy Bomar Monks tolerated his slimy presence in their hallowed halls....
Those are just a few ideas that have been bumping around my (currently very tired) cranium. But the bottom line is, until all professions gain access to a super-elite profession that's balanced against Jedi both in their effectiveness and in the effort required to attain them, this game will remain impossible to balance.
I like these ideas
He is joking. A smuggler that figures out how to convert himself to pure energy....
Actually, I was brainstorming. The main goal of brainstorming is to toss out ideas, be they good, bad, or off-the-wall and sort them out later. But the energy thing for Smugglers is derived from a mix of two influences: Players taking a half-step toward "becoming one with the Force," and the climactic scene from the movie Altered States for the look. In game terms, the goal of this transformation would be to create a state in which the character briefly becomes almost immune to conventional damage, while dishing out extreme damage himself. And, oh, I think it would look incredibly cool if the devs created a piece of code that would temporarily replace the character's appearance with some sort of "energy-being" skin.
But if that's too far-out, what about the Jekyll/Hyde concept? Spices already take us somewhat in that direction. This would simply be an advanced version of spice consumption. And what would be a cool idea for other professions? My goal is to stir everyone's creative juices a bit and see what happens.
At any rate, super-elite profession masteries seem to be the direction the devs are leaning, if what I read of the FanFest discussions are an indicator. The way I see it, that's the only way to truly balance Jedi against other character types. It's absurd to try to balance a single profession that takes months to grind against professions that can be ground out in a week or two. Besides, that would give SOE a whole collection of new carrots-on-a-stick to dangle before its subscriber base....

You still fail to rectify how adding another alpha class will not stop normal professions from becoming obselete.
How good is your plan when all of the classes are either Elite Hunters or Jedi? How can you feel comfortable with the breakage of continuity that such a thing would cause? You see how many people play Jedi now and how much it breaks immersion. Your plan would just turn a game broken by Jedi into a game broken by Jedi and Elite Hunters.
No thank you. And I'll take that sandwich, thank you very much. *snatches it outta Elvis' hand*
