Since the smugglers are getting (sometime real soon now (c) ) missions that can put them on the bounty boards. Why not expand it a bit.

High level bountie missions from the underworld bosses (jabba, lady V, borvo, blacksun etc). As you complete missions, you gain underworld ranking for that boss, and loose from the targets faction.

When you get to a certain point with a certain faction (negative) or # of targets taken down in a time period, you (randomly) get a bounty placed on you for being a pest. As well, if you blow to many missions for your boss, he'll take a bounty out on you for being inept.

Just a thought. Trying to add some wars to starwars.

I mean Boba Fett didnt get into Jabba's good books by hunting down some guy who spelled Jabba's name wrong on a christmas card.

That is an awesome idea But they would have to make faction limmits for some


exmple


if u lose a specific amount of said faction thats when a bounty is placed on your head.


example jabba - lose less then 1000 youre as good as dead


lady v - lose less than 1500 youre dead


Black Sun - less than 500 youre dead ( these of course would pay the most)

Many people have asked about this too. I'm more of the feeling that BH, Smugglers and jedi should be the primary player targets for BH, but any combat prof can hit the terms. Jabba aint gonna take kindly to anyone with -5000 Jabba faction. Of course, all it'll take is level balancing, i.e. if you are a level 80 BH, you'll only face level 80 players. I wouldn't mind hunting down a Swordsman once in a while. BH should become the bane of every player.

Anyway the BH hunts anything not just jedi, I love this idea the DEVs should have a look at this

That sounds like a wicked idea. Bounty Hunter becoming EVERYONE'S problem sound fun!!! If this was happen it would stop me becoming a Jedi me thinks.

The problem with tagging anyone with a -5k faction, if the jedi thing has taught us anything, that non-concentual (even though it says by becoming jedi, you open yourself up to being hunted) PVP doesnt work.

The only way it would work, is if you take missions that qualify you for bounties, you know that by taking that mission you are gonna get hit.

By taking the safe missions, you don't have to worry about getting wacked.

how about rewards for high faction points but also run the risk of getting hunted more for being so high in a certain faction?

I've been kicking this around for some time, and have posted similar ideas, all have gone unnoticed by the developers.... but I will take your design and offer my advice:


Since the PvP will be "forced" there will need to be a mechanism for players to either "opt in" or "opt out" of it. This can be as easy as flipping a checkbox on their options. "Particiapte in GCW Bounty System" By checking that box, player assumes responsibility, and understands they will be hunted/attacked at some point.


Onto the game mechanics:


Players win and lose faction standing with the various factions through completing missions, failing missions, killing npcs, or helping npcs of a particular faction. ie, kill a Jabba factional member, you would lose 15 Jabba points but gain 15 Valarian and Borva points. (this is the system in place currently)


Once a player reaches a certain "threshold" of negative or positive standing, the following would happen:


-5000 Faction - Npcs will attackon sight, Kill Bounty initiated on terminals for up to 5 missions, highest payout


-4000 Faction - Npcs will attackon sight, Caputre Bounty Assinged for up to 5 missions, higher payout


-3000 Faction - Npcs will attackon sight, Capture Bounty Assignedfor up to 5 missions


-2000Faction - Npcs will attackon sight, npc BH mission released (similar to Old Man visits, only in "wilderness")


-1000 Faction - Npcs will attackon sight


-500 Faction - npcs are "rude" to the player


0 Faction - neutral, npcs are wary


+500 Faction - npcs are "nice" to the player


+1000 Faction - npcs are "nice to the player, will help during a fight


+2000 Faction - npcs are "nice to the player, will help during a fight, unique faction quests open to player (monetary reward)


+3000 Faction - npcs are "nice to the player, will help during a fight, higher level unique quests open to player (monetary reward)


+4000 Faction - npcs are "nice to the player, will help during a fight, higher level unique quests open to player (unique loot)


+5000 Faction - npcs are "nice to the player, will help during a fight, highest level unique quests open to player (unique loot + badge)



Any player can gain/lose faction. There would be an established level of what would happen and at what leve, while the above is just an example.


Smugglers would be able to buy/sell faction of ANY faction they had positive faction with. They can also "slice" terminals to remove the "visibility" from one player or another. Terminal slicing would require a rare loot item granted from questing (like smuggler loot is now), hence would be costly.


GCW - Any player COULD join any faction offically, and be declared "overt" against the opposing factions. In mind I had limited the factions to:


Imperial

Rebel

Criminal - Jabba, Borva, etc

Pirate - Valarian, Nym, etc


There would be 4 main factions with sub divisions like the Piloting Classes are now. Each Piloting class has 3 sub divisions and different missions, npcs, etc for each.


Any of the 4 overt faction members could attack any of the 3 "opposing" factions.


Piloting: The existing piloting system would remain, but Rebal and Imperial faction members could NOT be Freelance pilots, only Criminal and Pirate factions.


Each Faction would have it's own "themepark" and unique experiences and missions.



This would add depth and content which is much needed to the game! Opinions?

Without being an expert in how the game would be played out if this were to happen, I support the general idea, but wouldnt the hunted, who check a box or what not, need some kind of incentive to do so, such as a reward for thwarting the BH attempt? /shrug
