Thread: Wow, I suck at PvP!

So last night I get bored with NPC missions, and decide to try and tackle a Jedi. I've been playing SWG since month one, but have never participated in PvP, it's just not something I would ordinarily be interested in.

After 3 runners, I finally got a Jedi who stood his ground when I approached. He crushed me. Wasn't even close. I was owned, hands down.

He was a good sport about the whole thing, and asked me to come back again so we could duel, again, I was decimated in combat.

I just wanted to put the word out, since I'm sure that someone will be posting about a sucky BH running missions last night, and that would be me.

Respect to Thellorms, you are the greater PvP'r than I, well done!

hehe so you failed on your first BH mission.. Most people does that, unless they find their target in the force cave afk grinding ^^

I was so lucky to run into a m.defender pre-cu jedi.. didnt end well, but I put up a good fight. Im sure you will get it right eventually, it takes time to learn this game you know

At least you took the first step! You ran missions! Good for you. Then you did the adult thing and said you got crushed, but did not call exploit, nerf, foul, etc. Nice to see another adult playing the game!

It's like the Matrix..... when Morpheus wants Neo to jump across the street from roof top to roof top.... and Cypher says "no makes it on the first try, no one"

Don't be discouraged, hunting Jedi is an artform. As debated and proven in some other recent posts.... it's not a matter of the best equipment, or superior skills, or template. It's all of those things in one.

Yeah, I'll admit, it was more fun than PvE, at least I got to chase the targets, like a real BH would.I am 100% positive I didn't do the fight correctly, it went a little like this:

I found him in a player city, it was pretty cramped and didn't give me the room to kite like I had hoped. I opened up with a ranged shot and TRIED to keep my distance. He used force run and closed the gap pretty quickly.

Once he got on top of me, I used knock down and tried to put some room between us. He hit me with force suppression (I think) andI was pretty much rendered useless. At that point he knocked me down and stopmed me like a grape.

He sent me a tell and told me "good fight, you need practice, come back and we can try again". I flew back, challenged him to a duel, and again tried to keep some distance. This time I hit him with a chemical burn, and poison to try to get him intoa healing cycle, so I could wear him out with critical shot, but I just wasn't doing enough damage.

In the end, my inability to keep myself healed up was my downfall. I switched from distance healing to chemical warfare earlier in the day, because I figured the extra damage would give me an upper hand. I used ruby whatever to reduce the time between stims, but it really wasnt enough, I still got my @$$ handed to me.

After the second fight, a couple of knight showed up to watch and I figured I had embarassed myself enough for the night, so I headed out.

It wasn't a nerf, exploit, a bug, or an unfair fight, it was just a good old fashion school yard beating.

So, if any Jedi read this, and you want some anti-BH practice, and you are on Shadowfire, send a /t to issox. I need the practice.

If you had fun stick with it. You will get better. I know I did. I lost my first 5 and was down on myself. One by one my fights started to last longer and longer. My first fight lasted 2 mins, by my fifth fight I had a Jedi going for about 20-30 minutes until I made a mistake. You will slowly pickup on things that will make you better. When I finally got my firstkill it was such a rush. It was the most fun I've had in this game to date. If you are intersted then look through the stickies at the tip section. Have your armor sliced and research on food combinations to use. You will really notice a difference when you have equipped yourself properly. Good luck!

Hi,

Like everyone said, you probably need practice. Also, take into consideration of the equipment your using.

Your armor needs to have the highest Energy protection you can afford seeing as Jedis sabers do Energy damage. Also, i have had much success using a kenetic damage weapons seeing as Jedi can equip PSG, they have that little extra resist to Energy.

My BH template is MBH/MCM Pistoleer 0/0/0/4.

I absolutley love this temp as just from the MCM, you have 2 types of heals. You can heal yourself with Bacta Toss if you didnt know. Just make a macro like /bactatoss self andput that in your tool bar.Add those to good Stims and your set. Just take some Ruby Blieu to reduce the Stim Pack round time.

Stopping Shot on the Pistoleer line is a god send to keep Jedi at bay. I use the 2 Ranged arms giving me a total of +15 extra range, thus enabling me to attack Jedi from 80m.

I usualy approach my targets in 2 ways.

1st way is, if there grinding, just shot from distance. Dont use KD or anything as they just may think your another mob attacking them. If they do notice them, KD them and go from there. Dont forget to use the de-buffs too from MCM.

2nd way is, if there just standing around, i use Paralize, then Thyroid Rupture (that hurts Jedi alot), then the other MCM de-buffsand i go from there. I sometimes use the DOTs apart from Advance Infect as i believe that is still broken at the moment.

Keep up on the MCM de-buffs when the jedi get close and you should be set. Just remember that when i Jedi is in a paralize state, that damage breaks the state, so get a far away as possible before you attack.

Good Luck,

Benralus

General question to all?

I stopped counting at about 20-25, so I have no idea. I'd say it's in the 50-60 neighborhood. I add them to my friend list and put KILLED and the date in the comment section.

I like unique encounters. If I get the same person twice in say 2 weeks, I will drop the mission as they probably have either not ground the full template, or not changed the template. If it's been a few weeks, I'll go for them again.

I don't really care about total numbers though. They people that claim they have 100, 200, and 300+ Jedi kills don't really impress me. It's great for them, I know my strengths, I know my skills, and I know I have a fair chance of winning.

The better question would be, how many Jedi have killed the BH? For me.... that's a high number. It took awhile to "train"
