Thread: To the Pre-CU MBHs
wow.....that doesn't leave much room for anything else does it.
I figure that'd prolly give a final combat lvl of around 55-60......would definately be tricky to kill a jedi under those circumstances. Sounds like a fine challenge to me![]()

It was way harder when you had to be both Master Marksman and Master Scout so if you want a really hard challenge then you should try it
Fixed

If you are looking for a challenge to grind BH, try grinding it near the way it was when the game was released.
Master Scout/Marksman
Do not use speeders (you gotta run every where)
Do not use JTL (gotta use the shuttles)
Add 10 minutes to you waiting time at the shuttle (shuttles actually had a 10 minute wait at one time)
No buffs allowed
No comp armor, bh armor, or any armor with the new smuggler loots added (we were very limited on armor)
None of the new looted weapons
Abort 4 out of 5 missions due to bugs (haha, just kidding. But we did have that many bugged missions)
Tho I am no longer a MBH (it was my first holo prof), it was a fun, long grind... and maybe you will have some fun doing it this way (or not), but it would be interesting to see how it works out.

If you want the real experience, remember to delete every second mission just as you walk up to it, to simulate the double xp we get now. Of the 50% that are left, remember to delete 2/3 of them to represent white cons, trapped in buildings. Remember to wait 10 mins when you get to a shuttleport, then another 10 mins when you get to the space port. Only take missions on Yavin and Endor to simulate there being no player cities around at the time, and have yourself a 85 max damage scout blaster to simulate the uber weapons as well.
Dont bother with buffs/spice or armour either.
If I was you though, I would not bother.
first time i tryed to take on a bh mark i was killed in one shot, no buffs, no armor, no good weapon, no spice, no food...
grinded out bh in 3 months....
Why...... are you doing this? To see how frustring things could be back in the day, or so you can understand and appreciate what the "old-school" hunters went through? Something about those "old-schoo" hunters though... they didn't last too long in a fight.
You're stats will be:
CL 58
Melee/Ranged Defense +95/+125
You will have 33 points left to invest in what you wish. I would suggest medic x4xx, which will leave you 4 points for whatever you want. The Medic will simulate the heals that basically any player with basic medic ability could dish out.
okay so maybe that wasn't my last post under my wifes account....this one might be![]()
Anyways,...the reason I want to do this is largely for personal challenge.....partly to get a better understanding of what the old school B/Hs had to go through and I'm hoping I might actually learn something about utilizing my skills to win a fight...as opposed to relying on raw firepower. Basicly I'm hoping I can become a better bounty hunter from it.
I applaud your committment to learn out craft! I think the a bounty hunter's strength now lies in the versatility that the profession allows. Master Bounty Hunters can master one other ranged profession and still have formidible healing capacity with CM 4xxx. It's really your choice at that point whether it's going to be pistol, carbine, or rifle but that IS the most popular template currently. And for good reason... because it WORKS if you know what you are doing.
I think that you may waste some time though. Getting Master Scout, Master Marksman, and Master Bounty Hunter will take a long time for you especially given that the BH marks are tougher now as you go up the investigation ladder. The whole bit about not driving anywhere and waiting 10 min at the shuttle and spaceports is out of line in my opinion.
I would rather see you learn the craft through question and answer here with other "established" hunters and from the hunters and Jedi in your guild and on your server. Find a few that won't mind helping out a new hunter. That "training" will be more valuable than any lengthended grind or unnecissary hardship that you could put yourself through.
I'm NOT saying don't do it, but you might become very frustrated with the whole thing, only to find out that you can learn JUST as much if you were to grind out the current templates normally. If you want to learn your professions, then go out and solo grind the experience, don't stand around in a "xp group" with a spinnind Jedi on a PIket lair. Anyone can grind out a whole combat profession in a matter of hours that way, but you won't get the same understanding of what you can do with your specials. No, go out and grind on your own, grabbing missions from terminals and at the most, with only one friend to keep you company. Then take on the Bounty Hunter x444 trees before you attempt the Investigation.
That's my recommendation, take it or leave it, and GOOD LUCK either way! ![]()
