Thread: 148k bounty..(not a complaint, a call for help)

This is not a complaint first off, more of a cry for help. Ok, im by no means a PRO or Expert at hunting jedi, but im no newbie at it either and had good success before the CU at it. My current spec is Master Pistoleer, Master BH and 4000 CM.


I took this mission that paid out 148k, thinking to myself that this shouldnt be too hard (think again, lol). Im not kidding you, our fight must have lasted for at least 20 minutes, running around the desert of LOK. Neither of us really had gained a advantage that i could tell, but at one poiint in the fight he did force run away and came bacck with Doc buffs (go figure). But even when he came back it was still a dead lock of a fight. He eventually ended up force running away into a cantina, maybe because he was low on force, or maybe out of boredom that the fight was never going to end.


I did everything i could think of to get the upperhand, ,was constantly trying to keep him rooted when it refreshed, i tried keep states applied (which really never worked), i tried to keep him Knockdown with a follow up of Crit SHot + Body shot (this actually worked well, but he healed the damage right afterwards like it was nothing) but everything i through out him he healed right away. It seemed like he healed everything i threw at him, and never ran out of force? On the other hand, everything he through at me i managed to be able to heal with 4000 CM and my 1200 heal Stim Ds...


My question is this as intended? do i really need to bring a gank squad for a lowely 148k mission? is this how it normally is with these type of mission payouts? what could i have done differently?


I really prefer to solo my Jedi Bounties, but the way it looks is i have to bring help to get a kill :/

I think a lot of problems like this actually come from your template. You have a crowd control with very strong defenses and strong healing template. Where's your damage coming from? If you have some incredible pistols, that's one thing, but not that many people do--which means they are not getting a lot of damage from pistols.


A suggestion would be to sacrifice some defense somewhere and try to get Last Ditch in smuggler. If you're only going to have one make-or-break offensive move, that would be a good choice.

Im worth a measely 40k on the forums and beat a master pistoleer/bh yesterday, TWICE.


He probably had a good template stacking defense from other professions and had force channel.

i thought my template would work well , using a scatter that does Kinetic instead of Energy.. you think i should try respecing? i love my pistols though

well pistols dont have a bigger gun really... id have to respec Rifleman, which doesnt sound fun to me..... so basically my template just sucks the big one against jedi

An alternative is to work really hard to somehow get great pistols, but that's almost impossible in the post-cu world. Smugglers use pistols and Last Ditch is a smuggler move--a great one, in fact.


Pistols are a tough call against any melee class because you will be close to their range all of the time. You get good defenses because of that, but you'll also basically always have them at your heels and one mistake will put you down.


How often did you need to heal? You're very strong defensively so I'd guess not a lot. That could be an area of sacrifice.


A Jedi only lives as long as their Force pool lasts. You have to wear it down by doing enough damage to make them use it up in healing (which also means they can't damage you back because they won't have the Force to do that). Once their Force is depleted, they are an easy kill.

stick with it...i had a problem like this, 30 minute fight (gotta be a post-CU record) with a master defender/master rifleman who had channel and a bit of healing powers....gotta remember taht alot of jedi in the 150kish range very possibly have master defender, which is impossible for a Pistol/BH to take down...oh and i have the same template as you....works good if you get a nice 600-700 DPS scatter

I am having the same problem as he is. My fights last about 3-4 min but i always lose. I have Master Marksman, Master BH. Master Rifles. Pistols 0003 and i have killed 1 jedi and died the rest of the time.


The buggars heal faster than i deal damage. I hit them with stopping shot, headshot, critshot, bodyshot, snare, they heal. They get to me and then we dance til i die while he heals.


What can i do differently? I use Stim Ds to stay in the fight longer but they only do so much.

You have to get a good enough gun to outdamage jedi forceheal, if not you are looking at a long fight.

true...when i come across a defender though, like my 30 minute fight, just decide that i will tank him out till he runs outa force...set auto attack on, use a few intimidate and confusion shots, then just keep my health at atleast half way...then when he starts to slow down, i kd/advanced quickdraw/critical/torso/critical...works usually

my laser gives me 470 dps i don't know what more i haven't seen one higher yet and believe me i am looking....


Are there any state shots i should be doing or are they pointless?

well in a 20 minute fight i had to heal myself a few times just like he healed himself.... the DPS weaons your talking of even exist? the best i got is 550 dps, and that with me having +16 in pistol speed AAs.


on a side note, are PuPS working correctly? everytime i apply one to my weapon, it never changed the DPS of my weapon, in some cases it lowers the DPS. This are my PuPS i have pre CU though, so maybe they are bugged??
