it seems like both are good secondary classes for the BH, can anyone tell me the pros and cons?

well you can't say SoE is just in it for the money, because if they were they would open up classic servers and double thier income.

I think rifles would be better for you. I like using CM 4xxx with my MBH/Mcarbs. Great for heals and damage, but it's all up to personal preferance.

I kinda like the Debuff ability of the CM, but not sure how useful it is againts marks especially Jedis.

as for Rifleman, I have always like the Rifleman class heh.

If you are attacking a full template Master Defender, a rifle is not going to help alot.

MCM will require alot of skill, and good tapes to make really effective, as you loose alot of combat skills.

But MCM are the only real BH template that cause my jedi any problems at all.

If you can work the debuffs and attacks in your hotbar like a madman, then MCM seems to be a good choice. Especially against Jedi.

I have faced several Riflemen pre-pub 20 and post-pub 20. With improved Valor up, they are lucky to even hit me.

Debuffs however, drain my healing, and thus my force. Once force is gone, defenses are gone. Once they are gone, any jedi will drop. poof!

Of course their are holocrons as well, so what you are really looking for, is for the jedi's mind to run out before yours.

good question .. i struggled with this decision too ... heres my opinion for you

rifleman is better for the first strike ... if you get yourself a bomb droid ...and manage to blow it up ... you can then use high damage strikes to pummel the jedi where he cant move offensively .. he will be forced into a defense game ....i suggest using ruby bliel and forgetting healing all together ...get the pistoleer root ...now this is a high damage template thats all about the first strike .. if ya cant finish the guy off when ya first engage you will have to keep at a distance .. and if your root fails you are probably toast... so make sure you invest moneyt into rifleman and general ranged accuracy aa's and CA's to make sure that root sticks when ya lay it down

now with masterCM ... the strategy is harder i think ....you need to wear down the jedi's bars....this takes expert understanding of your moves and expert manuevering skills in pvp ... plus with this template you will need to invest 30 to 40 million in AA's and Ca's ( unless you know where to farm them )to raise your defenses and weapon accuracy and speed .. ( otherwise your gun will be worthless ) ... i have found the most valuable thing to this template so far is electrolyte and its mind dots... i ran up to a jedi ... who was at a starport ... looked like he was in /tells or his guild chat cuz he wasnt moving ... took out my droid blew it up .. paralyzed ... then hit him with electrolyte ... then layedthe mind dot ...he got me one or twiceluckily i was able to heal .. but what happened next was what i found to be the true value to CM ...i hit him with cripple ( im a carbineer) and his movement was reduced even further ...and the duration of the snare is great

I was mrifles/mbh/0404 pistoleer............i dropped it.....ruby/stims just was not enough.

NOW....mbh/MCM/0400 carbs.......no ca's or AA's.........PVP rank 1668.

here's the deal......when i was rifles it was all about the damage.....now it's all about the debuffs and fire/poison, because let's face it almost every jedi out there will have improved aura (+500 defense) and as a rifleman even after you engage aim (+240 accuracy for 15 seconds i believe, can't remember) and you actually do get a shot in you'll be lucky to hit for more than 400 damage, that is IF force valor doesn't block the shot altogether.

Force valor = +25 saber block

now let's think about fire/poison......they don't get affected by armor/aura/force. if you get good enhancers for fire/poison, also called neurotoxin and deuterium toss, they have a chance of doing 600 damage, combined, about every 5 seconds i'm estimating, never really timed it. Take the 600 damage, couple it with your 200-500 damage from your shots and you have yourself a winning combination.

CM debuffs: a godsend, you can lower attack speed by 40 points, lower movement speed (snare), lower action regeneration (hemorrhage), lower STATE resists...can't really ask for more.

however i have found several jedi that can rip me apart decently fast even with all my heals/debuffs.

don't think for a minute MCM is an I WIN button, but in my opinion, it gives a BIGGER chance of surviving an encounter with an EXPERIENCED full template jedi.

the run and gun techniques are almost obsolete for reasons stated above, 10 second jedi fights are almost non existent now.....so strategy will have to take effect in order to maximize your potential of winning.
