Thread: Which template?

I friggin decide whether I should go for triple-master or "Launcher Pistol Specialist". I hate unarmed and rifles about equally. I know I want to master smuggler and pistoleer...beyond that I've little clue. Powerboost looks nice, and I like the thought of a bothan TKM, surprise factor. But I really like being able to heal myself, and feel attached to my exploration line. I just can't make up my mind.

I'll probobly never get business from artisan, I absolutely hate crafting....

gah!

any advice?

...I should also mention that every profession I go for seems to be broken. I was just starting CH when they gimped the whole profession.

I don't know much about Pistoleer (I only have Novice and I will probably only be spending General Combat XP there), but I have Novice Chef and am going for the full scale buff-o-rama atm - it remains to be seen how much point it is after the Smuggler revamp, but that is months off yet

As for launcher Pistols, remember that they give heavy weapons XP and are slow - you need all of the pistoleer speed increases to make them viable for the Smuggler specials, so concentrate on Pistoleer for now...

If you truly dislike crafting but really want to have Business, try making food. I originally got into the Chef line because a) I didn't want to have to grind pistol barrels, b) I got killed every time I tried totrack down decent metal deposits, but organic was freely available with Scout, and c)I liked the buffs - and that was pre patch.

Anyhow, food is a good way of making crafting XP without really realising that you are crafting, as you just make it when you need it, which ends up being a lot of the the time once you start using it.

I'm really looking for a PvE template that would also last for more than half a second in PvP, and allows me to make some cash outside of blowing up lairs. Think I'm dreamin?

Pistoleer is....borked. Most of the specials, while they can do a lot of damage, do random HAM, which is just annoying as all hell. Only one or two really 'work' as in 'are of any use at master', and the rest are 'ok, it kinda works, but it sucks', or straight-up 'broke!' But I like it, and am hoping we eventually get dual weild.

The launcher is pretty slow, but the blast damage comes in handy for blowing up turrets and chicken walkers and things of that nature.

TK is uber and powerboost is noice, but I still have horrible nightmares about leveling unarmed 4.

Funny though, I brushed the dust off the pair of VKs I used to level unarmed for novie smug today. I finished unarmed way back when the cert was still in novice brawler, way back in the day. The max damage on them is less than 100. It's like 87 or something. Made by Yousin Trouble (any Flurrians remember him? Wonder if he's still around. )

Also found my first weaponsmith-non-bazaar-bought pistol, a scout. Max damage of around 80. Made by Smithen Wessen.

Unfortunately my first weapon past the CDEF I used until pistols 3 or so (took me that long to figure out I could use other types of guns...d'oh!) was destroyed in a repair attempt. A Kam DL-44 some random group guy gave me. That gun was so awesome-looking, I spent the next two months looking for one that looked just like it.

i'm thinking of dropping all of the scout but i cant make up my mind too i like to see the defence of the creatures and if they DB but mostly i already know wich db and wich not so i'm think of going Master Smuggler(got that) Master Pistoleer , And maybe Master TKA the only pain is to get TKA novice then its a more light go but thats just my 2 cents

I hated getting the unarmed prereqs for Smuggler, but I did some TKA on a whim to try it, and I got hooked! It's quite fun after you get novice (something exhilerating about standing in the middle of the desert in your pants kicking the crap out of things with your bare hands!)

I've now done the triple master, and it's pretty good.

If they would just give Smugglers a little love, I'd be happier than a pig in crap!

Sorry if you hate questions like this but I guess you won't read it given the subject if you don't like these questions. I'm waiting for my hour and a half patch update and thought I'd ask this.

I wanted to do Pistoleer/Smuggler/TKM .. Well I got TKM first then worked on smuggler. I hated using the pistol after seeing the wonders of TKM. I mastered smuggler and gave up on Pistoleer. Instead had some Artisian and Scout and collected resources for awhile and things were good. After a week of smugger though I realized .. there really isn't much to smuggler. I've pumped out crates of spice for my future use and switched over to TKM/Medic.

HERE IS MY QUESTION: I've seen in the FAQ that TKM/Master Brawler/Doctor 0430 is a popular template. I was curious if that would be better or if TKM/Fencer 4400/Doctor 0430 for the extra defense would be better. I know that the combat revamp might fix stacking defenses but if it does I'll readjust it then. I am wondering what would be a better template until the combat revamp goes through? I know it's all opinions but I was curious to hear from people with some stacked defense and from people who have master brawler (Is master brawler worth the basically one cool attack and intimidation2?)

Thanks in advance!

I haven't mastered the brawler proffession but from the people I have spokentointimidation2 alone is worth the skill point sink, 75% damage reduction almost like wearing armor if used properly. If you want to PvP I would go with the fencer template as stun rules PvP right now and the defences are a great add on if PvP isn't high on your list then I would go brawler/tka. It all comes down to your play style though and what you want to do with it.

I just dropped BH for this template: TKM, Master Smuggler, and Master Pistoleer. I just got novice TKa and novice smuggler. I like this becuase not only with Smuggler do you get Ranged Damage Mitigation but u also get it with Pistoleer and TKM has melee damage mitigation, u can u use pistols for ranged combat and move up with TKM. You can slice your own weapons with smuggler and self buff yourself with spices. Also u get factoin perks (thats always good:smileywink and u get really good attacks like Last Ditch Assult and Feign Death. I feel this is one of the best PvP and PvE template but that is just my opinion. Also, smuggler, if used properly can be a real money making profession. You may be right about smuggler being boring but there is going to be a revamp for it so im going to wait for it.

TKM/fencer/brawler. Yes to answear your question IMO, MB is worth it. For fencer alone it gives me lunge 2 and I can hit kiters up to 20m and is my only knock down move. For tkm it comes in handy as well but knockdown1 or 2 is used more often then I use the lunge. Intemiadate 2 and warcry 2 are worth the points as well. Longer delay times and intemedation. For your templet hard to say it would be worth it though. IfI didn't have the fencer I could probably get away with giving up the MB tag but your looking to go fencer or brawler, have to say to tough call. I'd suggest getting the MB cause it will be a pretty fast grind, if you find you can get away without having it, take up the fencer. Maybe not much help but as a fencer and a MB hard for me to choose between the 2.

I'm currently a master swordsman, master fencer. now i want to get more combat professions. obviously marksman wouldn't be a good choice since i have to spend 15 skill points just to get novice. i was wondering between master tka or master brawler. i do both pve and pvp.

i would say go master brawler and get pharm. IV for healing yourself in PVE and PVP.
