Thread: Hypothetical Publish 21: Bounty Hunter Ranking System

How do you all feel about the bounty hunter ranking system that's coming with Publish 21? ... where the top 10 ranked bounty hunters are granted additional skill mods and a set of mandalorian armor, with the caveat that their names will be placed on bounty hunter terminals to be hunted by other bounty hunters?

Personally, I like this change.

Edited by Nadias to add there have been no posts on this subject or confirmation of its truth by the devs. It's a suggestion, and no more.

Sounds cool. I'd need more details to really make a comment. I hope we can hunt each other. Is this even true?
Would #1 rank BH be like a #1 rank Jedi? I need balance baby

I believe they will instate this bounty hunter ranking system as a counter to the FRS which will be coming online in Publish 22. The FRS Jedi will be given wicked skill mods that makes killing them far out of the reach of your typical solo MBH. Since a solo MBH cannot kill a FRS Jedi, he would have to be a BHRS Jedi with the skill mods/defenses/firepower to take a FRS Knight.

The only thing I'm curious about is how they will rank BH's. By raw number of Jedi Kills? PvP Rating? I think there's too much room for exploiting if it went off of PvP rating -- there would be bounty hunter "fight clubs" popping up everywhere. Raw number of Jedi kills makes sense, since only a daft Jedi would open himself up to XP loss. But I can also see an exploit here where a Jedi with a BH alt who knows he will never be FRS and doesn't care about XP loss will allow himself to be killed over and over again by his BH alt. It's an interesting predicament.

if done, they would have to make it so you could only get credit for killing a person once per day

That might be an option since currently you can only get an increased PvP rating if you didn't kill the same person for 24 hours.

It should in general be 1 kill credit per day, otherwise a jedi OR BH need only gather his guild and fight club to the top.

I think it's their whole rationale for making Jedi missions anonymous. If a BH only receives BHRS credit for killing a Jedi, AND the identity of the Jedi cannot be known, then the "fight club" phenomenon cannot happen. It would be near impossible to consistently choose the same guildie Jedi once a day to get credit for a kill. It also would actually be more time efficient to go out and legitimately kill an unknown Jedi for a mission, not to mention there would be very few Jedi who would volunteer to take an XP loss just so his buddy can be a ranked BH.

All the BH changes happening in Publish 20 are clearly done for this new BHRS. I just wish the Devs would be more open about it. However, I certainly don't blame them for being tight lipped about things. I remember when they announced the CU over a year and a half ago, and when that didn't pan out in time they received tongue-lashings, innuendo and forum riots for being open with plans. They learned that it's better to keep the mouth shut until concrete things happen, than risk being called "liars" by the community. Really, we as a community have ourselves to blame for the Devs' tight lips.

as stated by A_Lamer - and to be reitterated - ANY ranking system can be cheated -even with direct human supervision any fight can be thrown. Any game can be cheated at (even a game of chess between a COMPUTER and a human was cheated at.)

If this goes live - people who understand game mechanics will abuse it.

Also, just for balance, since the jedi can have like 111 light FRS jedi and 111 dark FRS jedi - there would need to be a lot more than 10 'L33T' BH.

Also mando armor wont last long - so will get theseBHvampires will bewhining that their mando is 0 condition and doesn't repair when they go to the shrine and meditate.

Lastly, publish 20.0 will not prevent gank squads ... and ranked BH who are on the terms will be ganked. so then we'll get BH whining that they got ganked and Jedi appluading the system.

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.

Sorry, I tried, even got into a bit of a rumble with an anti-PvP/PvE Jedicorrespondent (not the Jedi corr.)that popped into my thread on this matter. The final word came down just a bit ago. It will go to Master.

The caveat:

You'll just have to wait for Publish 21, there is some love comin'. .
