From what I can tell on the Smuggler boards, they want this. I think a lot of Bounty Hunters would prefer hunting Smugglers (that want tobe hunted and would therefore not look for every exploit and loophole to avoid it). I have seen some teaser comments in various other posts that indicate this is something the Devs are working towards. While I do realize you may not be able to give any specifics, could you at least let us know if this is something the Devs have communicated to the Correspondents that they are working on and maybe a general ETA? I am asking based on the assumption that the Devs would want to work with their Correspondents in the Bounty Hunter and Smuggler communities to find a system bothparties would enjoy.

As every dev has said, not every player is on the forums.

also - once people start to die in "forced" pvp, they will find your exploits and loopholes as you state.

It's the nature of PvP, everyone wants to win, no one wants to lose.

... in conjunction with a good smuggling system. We want to be hunted for failing special smuggling missions. There's no reason to be hunted for what we do now.

But then again, have you ever seen something Smugglers want actually implemented in the game?

I've seen the Devs implement a lot of things the Player Community DIDNT want - maybe they were ready for a change

I have posted a while back a voluntary system that was based on the "in-concept" idea of Smuggler Conractswith NPC BH. In that idea, there was essentially a Race. 1 Smuggler was hunted by2 other Smugglers - they were trying to get whatever the first Smuggler was carrying. Then Bounty Hunters were dispatched after the2 Chasing Smugglers to "eliminate the competition"... so if Smugler1 got his Player Contract from Jabba, then the Rebels and Imperials would send a Smuggler each to get him. Then Jabba would send 2 BH to try and kill off the 2 Chasers, and the Rebels and Imperials would hire a single BH to kill off the rival Chaser. Each Smuggler would have 2 people hunting them while they tried to be the one to deleiver the item to its destination.

That is only one example of a voluntary system - I have read many others. Unlike the Jedi system, which was supposed to be a form of population control (and one that isnt very effective), a Smuggler Hunter system would be meant for fun content, and should be something all parties choose to do or not do - nothing forced.

I would agree with you that if the system was "forced" in nature then we would see people trying to cheat their way around.

I totally, 110% agree. The Smugglers have needed some Dev Lovin for a while...what do Smugglers do right now that is very "smuggler-ish". I'm not trying to sound insulting - the Smugglers need a better system so they can actually BE smugglers.

That has to come first. Any Player Bounty Hunteing of Smugglers would have to come after that.

I bet they would fix this exploit as fast as they have fixed all the others, or fix THIS one fast since they aren't in a hurry to fix anything in game.

I would love to see other bounties, don't get me wrong...but I find it extremely funny to think of 2 factors.

1. Those that have Master (insert ws or as here) and smuggler getting hunted...hahahaha

2. Those that are Bounty Hunters and smuggler...oh how I would laugh...

Sorry, I just can't get beyond those two things.

That's why I like the idea of a "Race" with each participant signing up to hunt or be hunted. Someone in you point 2 couldn't hunt themselves because they chose whether they want to be the Smuggler or the Bounty Hunter role. For people in yout point 1, they would never be forced into it, so if they never want to be hunted by anotherPlayer (BH or rival Smuggler), they simply never take one of the Special contracts.

The races themselves (almost more like scavenger hunts)could require getting to certain NPC contacts in the middle of nowhere of many differnt planets, with each participant having some way to find out where their prey is going to be heading and try to get there ahead and lie in wait. From the very start each participant would no they ar racing against time, and other players. The Devs could even include additional versions of these for people that have JTL, and participants could take the fight to the stars. Maybe even include any other expansions, so if the First Smugler chooses a Contract that requires JTL and ROTW, then all other particioants would have to havethe expansionsto even have the option of joining the hunt.

Eh, I'd rather they just make it so that if a smuggler becomes known (via weapons that are sliced or drugs that are sold) they're placed on the terms. And well, then they can get beat on just as nicely as your friendly neighborhood Jedi. Regardless of BH or Crafter profession...doesn't matter. I say we share the fun with everyone.

Of course there is the problem that Jedi knew all along they were to be hunted. How would you explain to the many that didn't know smuggler was changing? Oh well, kill'em all and let god sort them out...

Thanks Pug. A tad dissapointing, but at least now no one will have reason to hope.
