If I have 109 Speed in either Pistol or Carbine, how will this help me, and how will it hurt me?
I never understood the whole Speed cap stuff, so I thought i would ask to get an answer finally.

well, if I'm not mistaken (and it wouldn't be the first mistake I ever made) minimum speed you can actually achieve (regardless of weapon's attack speed listing) is only 1, if you have a really low speed weapon say, under 2.0 speed, chances are you're capped. Anything over about 100 speed is really kind of pointless in pistols, accuracy is the better stat to work on since that will help you hit the template freaks in pvp with godly ranged defense.

Go into options, go under the chat section, and click on the box that says timestamp messages. Then go into combat, try out various specials and look at the combat log/tab when you're done. If there's never a delay of more than 1 second between attacks, you're hitting the speed cap and can get away with a slower but more damaging weapon.

Hi, I'm a smuggler with some points left for Pistoleer. I have a question. If I'm not mistaken, speed for pistols is capped at 1.0. Does this mean if I have a bunch of pre-nerf FWG5s that are at 1.0, then getting boxes in the pistols speed tree is pointless? Or is there some kind of formula that averages the mods out to some other number? Like the way harvesting droid bonuses work with harvesting skill bonuses. Thanks

Actual speed depends on your player skill mod, your weapons speed and the timer on the special attack you are using. try one of the speed calculators like killyourpc (though its quite old) to see how fast you will fire with each shot, with a 1 speed gun your current pistol specials will cap, but your smuggler pistol specials definately wont.

look in your skill sheet, find out your speed bonus and write down the stats of your gun. I think you add in mods from clothes and stuff too. Then go to that clicky he put in his response and fill in the information. It will tell you speed and damage of the gun for just basic attack and for the specials.
This will make me look dumb, but I've never understood the formula for all that speed stuff.
And you're a smuggler.... you should know all about speed! It's a narcodic controlled by the Empire, makes you gointohyperactivemovesoyoudon'thavetimetohitthespacebar! \EYYYYAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAAHAAAHAH!!!!

no, all sabers are the same, they just look differant. LS speed is based on skill boxes and experimentation on the LS speedline itself.

No...a 0404 user will use a two handed faster than a polearm, because of the two handed lightsaber speed mods from x4xx.
