Thread: The most disheartening experience in the game (a bit long)

Hey everybody, I just created a bounty hunter (Ghavin'-->Bria)the other week and have been having a great time playing on him while waiting for phase changes on my main (Caeren-->Naritus). No, I did not have the /respec or double xp to help me out with easily doing investigation I did it the normal way. I finally got investigation 3 and was very excited to be able to hunt my first jedi, one of the BEST content in this game immersion wise.
Well after getting 7 missions and launching 7 arakyd probe droids all my marks were on kashyyyk so I dropped all of them. I finally got a mission where my mark was on Lok. I was insanely nervous wondering if my 3-4-4-4 BH/Mcarbs/2-0-0-0 CM unfinished template would be able to hold its own and kill the jedi quick because he might be able to outlast me.
I travel to Lok and shuttle into a player city about 1k-2k from the jedi. I drive up with my swoop to about 100m away and see him. I run up with my carbine and BAM, knocked him over, blew up his near by AB-21 so he couldn't escape and the fight was on....for about 5 seconds. He then ran away with force run and I chased him with /burstrun. Then he cloaked and had his buddy set up a house which he hid in. So I casually waited for him to come out, he's not going to get any grinding done when sitting on chairs, so I knew he'd eventually come out. In the meanwhile waiting he started to send me tells how I was a "scumbag" and had no honor (ironically after he insulted me...). I understood that he'd be pissed because I was CL 75 and he was only CL 66, but he is a JEDI, they ARE more powerful so a 9 CL difference isn't a total one sided thing as if I were CL 80. I came ALONE for a 1v1 battle yet he called me a scumbag. I didn't use an uber weapon, just some E11 mark 2 (856 top damage) I got off the bazaar and wore my clone armor because I'm too cheap to buy anything.
Also while waiting he had his friends come and say I should duel them and if they won I'd leave him alone. I declined as they were full template CL 80 jedi and I'm not an idiot. They continually sent me tells to duel, one finally stopped and actually started talking to me pretty casually just about random stuff and even answered some jedi questions I had. Another one of his friends (maybe grind partner?) sent me a tell asking me if I was nervous, and I said "yeah, this is my first hunt." He said don't let the jedi talk me out of it, that I WAS A BH DOING MY JOB. That was cool, a jedi who understood what happens in the game, that it is content in the game. I proceeded to chasemy markafter he ran out of his house cloaked to another house.
The wait continued while he was camping out in the 2nd house. He finally came out tried to attack me, got low on health and ran back in the house to regen. The next time he left the house he cloaked and ran to the shuttleport and I chased him. He stayed cloaked infront of the shuttleport and I said I'd leave him alone if he'd pay me 250k, he declined, so the hunt continued.
When he finally uncloaked he ran at me and I KD'd, leg shot, snared him, imp. crit, etc. He was at about 25% health and some other BH (did not know them as I am new to the server and we weren't grouped) came and shot him twice bringing him to about 5% and them I hit him and DB'd.
I was sent the hate tells (I knew they would come) and the "I'll get you banned from the city!!" which I didn't get because I attacked outside the city and he brought it here. Then he started really insulting me and cussing at me that I brought another BH when I came alone in the first place, wasn't grouped with them, and was new to the server. Then I said it was nothing personal and that I was just here to get my xp and some creds.
The friend then said he'd duel me, no db, and that he would forgive me for the hunt and that it would be no big deal. So I say, "sure just let me store clone data and insure my stuff." (I'm no idiot, I knew he was going to DB me, which was originally OK if we could just stop the damn flood of tells). So while dueling him (he was full temp) my former mark yells "TRIPLE INCAP!!!!1!111". I then /endduel as I know he I would then be triple incapped and killed which the person I was dueling said he wouldn't do. Then came another wave of insults. I proceeded to leave the town and shuttle back to Nym's Stronghold.
I even sent an email saying it was nothing personal, it was my first hunt, that I didn't know the 2nd BH who attacked him, that I would re-imburse him for the destroyed AB-21, that I hope he wouldn't ban me for killing him town because I originally attacked outside town, that my purpose was not to make him lose the xp but rather get some creds and xp, that I did offer to stop the hunt pretty early if he or his friends would pay me, and that I wished him the best of luck on jedi.
I hope when I get jedi in a couple days on main that I don't become like this. Someone who insults the other while contradicting themselves. Plays the game like a whiner and doesn't realize that getting killed is part of being a jedi and part of the game as a whole. I hope I don't become bitter to anyone who is doing what their profession is meant to do. I hope I don't become angry toward anyone who fought fairly and didn't use a single exploit-esque attack (startle shot/disarm shot) ever. I hope I don't hate anyone who plays their template correctly and can beat me.
Well time to go do my 2nd jedi hunt, hopefully this one will be a tad more pleasent and have less hate tells.
I just want jedi to understand that BH hunting you IS PART OF THE GAME, xp loss isTHE RISK of being a jedi, and that BH ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOBS.

As a Jedi, I can say two things: 1) I used to be like the a$$hat that you were after. I'd get really upset (I mean really upset, hehe), and use profanities and insults. Not that it mattered, of course. It didn't change anything, and only made me look like the idiot I was. And, 2) I've changed my ways, and my attitude.
I know that you were just doing your job. I don't have to like your job 
, but that's no reason to get personal about it, and be the kind of "thing" that so-called "Jedi" was.
And, since you're going to be having a Jedi character soon, I'm sure you'll get a taste for the frustration that comes with losing XP to a BH hit. But, as we all know, that's the "price of admission." I could use a lot of other cliches, but you get the point.
Unfortunately, there are far too many so-called "Jedi" like that mark of yours than there are of us Jedi that accept the risk that comes with the choice of playing a Jedi character. Or maybe it's not that there are more of them, maybe it's that they're louder and more obnoxious than the rest of us.
For the record: I don't grind on Kashyyyk (for various reasons).I do it where BH's can come after me, and they have done so, many, many times. And I've lost every single time, partly because I'm still building my character, partly because I lack any significant PvP experience, and mostly because the BH knew what the heck they were doing and I didn't.

Not all Jedi players are immature little twits, and some of those (like me, hehe) can actually get a clue about this entire BH versus Jedi component of the game. And there are many Jedi out there who actually wish a BH would hunt them (not me! not yet, ).

First off, Don't let his buddies irk you into accepting a duel. whats the point of decaying your armor, weapons, and wasting food/drink buffs for a victory that is not going to mean anything in terms of CASH?
This won't be the last time you get hate tells, duel requests, etc. Don't let it get under your skin. The more they froth at the mouth, means you have done your job well.
Ignore the tells, stead, take a screen pic with their best insults and read it months later and LAUGH.

good to know atleast some people aren't going to be sending me floods of hate tells lol

When you get a whole guild to get all their BH to state that they will comeafter any of your guilds Jedibecause you have killed a handfull of their Jedi in a couple days, you KNOW you have done your job well. This has actually caused quite a wonderful stir in my guild and they are enjoying every moment and every next kill. *chuckle*
You woudln't beleive some of the tactics the guild would use to try to get me to stop the hunt, or to not hunt another Jedi from their guild...

eh....get used to the whining and flaming by jedi, it's not going to goaway, mostly everyone hates dying, and some just cannot accept it.

Will always be a$$hats like in your original post, but try to remember, it goes BOTH ways. Congrats on your first hunt though. Sadly, i feel no pity for the new jedi, crusing through, having used respec methods, double xp, and afk grinding. They don't know how to play..and deserve each death they receive.
However..killing a Jedi isn't your job, that's Vader's Job. Being a annoyance and making jedi lose their xp is your job, lol. ....more or less the same thing, i just think Vader was a better BH . He probably capped on investigation points, before he decided to become a full template jedi. i know i did *points at sig*

Bounty Hunters that get killed by their marks, whine just as much. The people that expect to win at the drop of a hat, or aren't prepared for PvP will always cry. Lemme go into a example or so.
Before the CU, i killed 2 bounty hunters that came at me, at the sametime. only to get about 30 lines of hate tells, calling me every racial slur, and cuss word they could think of, and how i cheated, and how they weren't ready ( *roll eyes* ), anod how that desert demon that was 78meters away, was the deciding factor with his DH18........................... (Author Note: they came back and died again., then came back again, and again and again.)

He was yelling that he was going to bring his whole guild after me, and his "uber" pike BH character. I was wondering, why is he so mad over a DB... he doesn't lose anything when he dies, no reason to be crying.. /shrug. screenshot and move on (that screenshot got me alot of praise .)
.)A few days ago, i decied to walk out my house and fight a BH that was out there waiting, after he said he'd pay me my bounty,if i came out and if i won. So, out i went..how can i refuse free credits, ended up beating him in 4 hits, was almost too easy, so i assumed he had a problem with his macros if he was running any... tough luck, i bowed, said good fight. he was a sport about it, and did infact tip me, had a nice chat with him after words.
Overall picture; Just because one person is a a$$hat, don't assume the rest are. Win, Lose, or Draw..someone is going to be talking crap, most of the time.

luckily I've had no other problems after the first hunt
2nd hunt: great hunt, person fought me straight up
3rd hunt: got the person while they were sitting in nym's not paying attention with a few hits
4th hunt: killed him while he was running around dath
5th hunt: got paid to stop
