Started the game as Bounty Hunter. Never took a player mission.
Played a maxed out stacker for amonth just to see how easy it was.
Played a Jedi, never tried to defeat a singlebounty hunter.
Being a roleplayer who always where more concerned about looks/background than template/power, the feeling to finally kiss the last TEF goodbye is a satisfying rapture that is difficult to describe.
I never became a Jedi for power, so to me, getting rid of forced-pvp is worth everything I can possibly offer.
I hope to see several of you still holding your BH tag high post-CU2, despite loosing your ability to hunt player characters, and I hope you like me trust that pvp'ing in the new system will be far more fun than SWG ever had to offer.

I may just have to create whatever class is best as an anti-Jedi on her server, and make sure I am always around when she goes overt. LOL. The funny thing is, she'll be no better than a normal character. And I'm pretty dang good at FPS...

I have to say I disagree with you 100% MsNil. I'm sorry, but this new system takes out a lot of the things I like.
First off, it removes the risk for being a jedi. This is a bad thing, every time they remove a little risk from jedi, jedi get hit with the nerf bat, and as a roleplayer, I want there to be Risk being a jedi in this time period. It doesn't make sense for there not to be some risk.
Second, it removes BH being able to hunt players, honestly, this is the MOST appealing part of the game to me. Bounty hunting is one of the key things aside from smuggler and jedi that is Star wars. When you ask people to name their favorite character, often you will get Boba Fett, Han Solo, or Luke skywalker. most Star wars games have Bounty Hunters hunting you in them at one point or another, in Shadows of the empire, you get attacked by both IG-88 and Boba Fett, in Dark forces, you get attacked by Boba Fett, in Jedi knight II, Jedi acadamy, you get attacked by Boba Fett. Simply put, as both a jedi and a BH, I will Severely miss the player hunts.
I like you, am a Roleplayer, I play this game for fun, and I like the path of hte jedi as it is something i believe me and my character both fall into very well. I didn't pick jedi because it was powerfull, i didn't pick it because i could show off. I picked it because i wanted to roleplay a Jedi struggling to survive in a time period torn by war where innocent people get slaughtered because they have a high enough midiclorian count to be a hazard to the emperor.
Whether or not PvP, or PvE for that matter is better after this patch doesn't matter squat to me, Sure I want a better PvP and PvE system, but not at the cost of the essence behind SWG. SWG up until this point was unique, unlike any other game, you could pick and choose professions, mix them how you saw fit, and play the way you wanted to. It seems to me that this new patch might just turn SWG into nothing more then a EQ2/WoW clone, and i have to say i think both those games suck. I love star wars, but I'm canceling one of my accounts for sure now, and the other I will keep up mostly just for chatting with friends. I might get into this new system, but i have to say, it better keep an essence to it that keeps it unique, if it becoems a clone I like many others are liable to leave because a lot of us out there don't like WoW and EQ2

I completely agree with Cerosis. Player bounties is what has kept me playing SWG for months now. Until the release of ToOW, which I've barely touched since the pre-release, taking jedi missions is what kept this game fun, interesting, and challenging. I do infact go up against MLS/Mdefender Jedi, regardless if their force pool is used up or not. Why? It's one hell of a good time.
Whatever happens, I still am and will always be a bounty hunter. To all of those master bounty hunters that have stuck through the thick and thin of our profession, I /salute you.

I hate group pvp, which is what I'll have to do if I want to battle other players. And no, duels are NOT pvp.

Thats just wrong. Yes, the game is going in the direction that you will enjoy, but to come into the BH forums and flaunt it is just plain wrong. While I can understand where youre comming from on most of your post I come across. This one is just like the spoiled brat who finally got their way and now flaunting it infront of a sibling.

I remember back in the begining of this game, before uber weapons, before armor, before stacked templates, PvP ruled all. Bestine/Anchorhead Raids were awesome Everybody PvP'd no matter what template.
Simply put, in they old combat system, if they had just balanced melee stackers(like they did in the CU, giving them TKA only defence, or Swordsman only defence etc) and balanced CM's so they weren't gods, then that is the type of combat system I could love to PvP in. Simply put, Pre-CU, without melee stackers and without CM's, PvP was awesome(yes 85% saber block sucked against ranged opponents, but jedi was very challenging, so it made sense that they were powerfull)
Any way, ask any person who played for the first 3 months and ask them what PvP was like back then, and i bet nearly every one of them would tell you it was awesome, fast paced, and down right thrilling.
Not to mention battlefields worked back then lol.
