Thread: How many old school BH's out there feel a little put out?

First off let me say that this is not a Nerf call or a rabble rouse...it is not my intention to call into questions anyones skills or worth.

I made Jedi two weeks after the CU ending a one and a half year carearof Jedi hunting myself culminating in a total of 166 kills. I played through 10 min shuttle waits, no mounts, NO SHIPS, grouped jedi and FD all the way scrimping and saving, grinding it out on my leather ass to affored the best equipment, attachments, and weapons avalable.

I was just wondering how the rest of you Old BHs feel about the new generation becoming rich beyond the dreams of the sultan on high end loot that we would have given our left testical for?

Are you simply happy to be included now? or is there still some animosity amitsed the ranks?

For me there is some animosity but not really. This is basically converting the old fort tusken system into the BH system. I just wish they came out with it a year ago. So if it wasnt here I would be camping wherever it came out of. Just like 30 other guys standing around camping something.

The grind thing in total for me is kind of sore, but to my experience there is one thing that this gives me a balanced outlook on everything. I spit on jedis that whine about not being rewarded for grind.

I was one of the first BH's on the server and i'm still one... i love it. The loot is what it is, and i think being an old school BH makes it better - yeah its great to get something good but in the end, we dont really care, we were used to getting NOTHING at all after running 5k to our target... if our target existed I'd say its probably a safe bet the loot whiners are the ones that are newer, and only really in it for the loot.

We learned tactics - which come in handy now more than ever. We learned a lot, and were burned by a lot, but i think that makes us appreciate it a little more now

In a way i miss the old days, i had a blast making friends with the AS and WS, buying guns by the crates and getting random slices, then basically doing the job of a smuggler selling them to up and coming BH... it made the $$ when the mission payouts didnt. Occasionally i still walk/run to a mark. In a way its a little disheartening that the profession that took us such a long time to master can be done very very quickly now, but i guess thats the same with every profession now so... hehe, it didnt help of course that our missions were incredibly bugged and on my server LLC's didnt exist until about 3 months into the game

times have sadly changed and so must we if we are to remain at the top of the game

u either rough it up and get on with it or fall back in depression while new bh's
overtake u.. this determines the strength of ur bh'ing

altho i admit i miss pre-cu etc

This is an MMORPG. Things are going to change over time. That fact just needs to be accepted.

ah I don't mind too much

Having MMarksman, and grinding the investigation line, not to mention dealing with dizzy/kd and 85% saber block was hard....

But I don't feel jealous of the new generation of BH's. Why should I? Not their fault they came into the game late.

This is just the same, tired, argument that gets wheeled out every couple of months...

You bought the game before some of the newer players, thats all. Everything evolves, online games, technology, life!!

I'm not one of the really old school bounty hunters, iHAD shuttles, swoops etc, 5 minute, or was it 10 minute waitsbetween shuttle times, i don't remember.

I've never had to 'run' accross a planet, although if i had bought the game when you did, i would have. All i wanted to do was be a BH, and thats all i've ever been for well over a year. I was BH when it sucked, i wasn't a dabbler BH, when melee/bh dabblers ruled the roost. I was ranged BH and my kill rate back then was poor.

I don't have a problem with the new BH's at all. They will learn the trade much like you did but with more help than you ever did, thats all. Don't blame the player, it's not their fault

Oh! you miss understand my intent....I wasen't questioning the heart or the skill of the newer BH's I was just wondering how the older ones feel about them comming into the profetion and having acsess to an unlimited supply of funds in the form of AA, CA and Weapon components that can be sold for hundreds of millions credits.

I really identify with what the fella was saying up top about getting to know and develiping a buisness relationship with your servers WS and AS. The diffence bettween a good BH and a great BH is the equipment you use and now everyone can afford the best.

It wasn't the not getting rich part, it was:

*Running 6000m with no speeder, no mount and you find a white conned mark that you can't attack.

*The early nerfing of BH and giving us no KD for a long period of time

*Harvesting hides for no reason, and crafting camp kits

*Having Marks jump planets to just disappear when I get to them for no reason

*Having Jedi missions be bugged when they initially came out, so we still couldn't really hunt them

*Getting beat in PVP by TKA/Fencer exploiters for 2 months (they would dodge 9 out of 10 shots totally realistic)

Nah I don't fell put out, the BH's of today should just feel lucky they have what they have, I just hate the respec, investigations is still the toughest grind in the game IMHO. It's annoying that we did all that work the hard way, and now it's so easy compared to what we had to do, but it's old news at least we can take it out on Jedi.

i have to be honest it gets to me a bit lol when people talk about grinding bh or respeccin to bh and then they are millioniares after 5 kills because of some AA or CA.

i too was around before mounts, vehicles, and even jedi lol we walked everywhere and camped when we had to. i remember havin a mark out near wayfar and having to walk from anchorhead lol cause that was the closest shuttle.

Not a BH story... but I remember the old PvP days before mounts when Besting would raid Anchorhead. Like 30-40 of us would literally RUN across the desert for 2000m to get there. It was GREAT!

Being a very old MBH (mastered august 2003) I feel things have gotten alot better, but I feel how they made jedi doesnt reflect them good. I mis the hybrid jedi. They killed the rping when making it so you cant use a saber with armor. Being a MBH/MLS/medic 0010 I feel I have the right to wear armor with my LS. After all, Mara Jade wore armor.

I'm afraid not, but if you can prove it I would be interested in seeing it
