Thread: The 700 Bug?
Okay, I might be bugged, but I don't know for certain, so I'm coming to my fellow BEs for guidance before I submit a bug report.
Just FYI, I'm a novice bio-engineer (0/0/1/0), and I wasn't doing this for long before the new templates and all that.
Anyway, something weird has happened when I get DNA samples post-patch.
I noticed this first on Yavin IV. No matter what I sampled, no matter what quality the final DNA sample was, Dependability always came out around 700-750. Every time, no matter what critter it came from. I sampled Mawgaxs, the bats, the mamiens, a few crystal snakes. The other stats never rose above 550 or so. But there was always that spike in Dependability. Every time.
I left Yavin IV and went to Corellia and took a dire cat sample. Same thing.
I guess my questions are these:
1) Is this happening to anybody else?
2) Does this have something to do with my incredible lack of experience?
Thanks!
I don't believe this is a bug. Prior to this new system, both agression and phychology were completely CL independent, meaning that a really nice a VHQ sample from a Durni gave you the same benefit as a VHQ one from a Rancor. This could be seen in the combine, but the effect of phychology on the end creature is a bit dubious anyway.
With this new system, it seems pretty clear to me that phychology is still CL independent but I don't think the same can be said for agression (still need lots of testing on this). However, from what others are saying perhaps what is important in phychology is not CL level, but rather special abilities and such.
Moral of the story? There certainly doesn't seem to be a need to use high CL level dna for the psychology slot. Perhaps low level dna that has some attribute that you want (a special attack or a ranged attack in particular) is ideal for use in this slot. Example: you're making a CL 50 creature. You might want to put CL 50+ dna sample into all the slots *Except* phychology where you might want to put a CL 20 sample of some critter that spits some nasty poison or some such ability.
Well, here is proof or a pretty good CL9 Dewback I created last night from 2 Rogue Fambaa and 3 Ikopi Dna samples, in thjat order:
http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=23611
(Note that this is below the CL 10 limit for Dewbacks on Talthazar's website)
Experminentation was into Physique and Prowess and I didn't have any experminentation into Mental, which may explain the low CL, along with the low Damage. I tried many other variations of this with experimentation into Mental as well and always got CL at 15 or above......
Going to have this trained and used as a Mount/Tank for my non-CH main (Gromo), but will keep trying with other combinations.
I remain convinced that BEs need to be concentrating on the low-end non-CH market with combos such as this to make good combos of mounts that can tank......with the changes to CH that have occurred, there will be many more folks that are looking for a good mount/tank to replace their nerfed ones, and this community will be the ones that provide them![]()

Moving on.....
I plan on doing a little research on Naboo. I'm planning on just sampling everything I can find to see what happens. I'll let y'all (or anyone who is still interested) know what happens.
Yeah the 700 bug I'll agree that something is going on with the samples, because its is rare to find good stats DNA samples after the patchfor me anyway i'll get very high quality samples but compared to pre patch samples they just dropped off the map. I could careless about the stats in mental and psychological the only stats I watch out for are physical, aggression, and prowess, but all the very high qualities stats have been pushed to to mental or psychological for me anyway, and yes I sampled from rancors and high level cretures same results, which is very bad for me because my customers want high health and high damage, they could careless that the creature can play chess...from a master BE

Okay, I conducted my little experiment. It wasn't very complicated, but it appears that I was a little off. I got one 900+ dependability (wish I knew what that did for the critters, but then, it sounds like no one does), and the other stats fluctuated as per the CL. Experiment's over, as far as I'm concerned. Oh well.

Part of the problem you're experiencing is that before the patch the numbers on the DNA sample were always relative to the critter from which you sampled. So you might have a VHQ sample from a gnort with 900 hardiness, but it was 900 hardiness FOR A GNORT. Which is was a very strong bunny, but a bunny all the same. A 200 hardiness sample from a rancor was probably better.
After the patch, the numbers are on an absolute scale (or at least, more asolute than they were before). So when you get 150 hardiness from a gnort, it's the same as 150 hardines from anything else. It makes it a lot easier to compare samples.

Well, this was ONLY true of the HAM stats though, not of agression and not of phych. These were absolute and CL independent.
