Thread: Please answer a few questions for me...
Ok, lookin at goin Master CM, Master Riflemen..
First off, yes I already know the alleged drawbacks of going with weapon that uses mind pool for specials, fire rate to consider with heals in combat que, etc etc, however thats what ive chosen, so:
1. When I reach Master Combat Medic, will I be able to use my combat medicine to its fullest specs given? I.E. will I be able to do ranged stims/diseases from 64-67m as Ive heard or not without going up some Doctor trees for extra experimentation.
2. How much more points of experimentation would I have by taking some Doctor alone with my CM and what real difference would I see in my Combat medicine?
3. What has changed with the LOS essentially, ive never thrown one disease pack/poison pack so I woudlnt know what it was before or after the change. Did they just make it so you can throw it if you cant see your target? This would make sense....and I wouldnt call that a nerf.
4. What are the schematic differences with my mind disease/poison delivery packs from lvl 2 cm crafting to master? What other resources will I be needing besides what I can already see in my existing schematics at that level (insect meat, res cp, inf amp etc) ?
5. If you do think Riflemen is a horrible decision to make explain your reasons why in a detailed manner and offer other suggestions/alternatives. What skills would your recommend overall if your primarily going into everything for pvp?
Thanks in advance, hoping for some intelligent answers from what seems to be a proffession with intelligent players, thanks.
(btw, chose riflemen for ranged db and i plan on attacking the hell out of all the 1337 players who nerfed their mind in stat migration for action for their super kd specials in pvp, heh, enjoy..)
heh, just noticed my many a typo, too many to list, you can figure it out though, thx ![]()

- It depends on the med, but yous hould be able to throw the C level meds around 60 m with master.
2. How much more points of experimentation would I have by taking some Doctor alone with my CM and what real difference would I see in my Combat medicine?
- Doctor and CM dont mix experimentation/crafting. They are totally seperate.
3. What has changed with the LOS essentially, ive never thrown one disease pack/poison pack so I woudlnt know what it was before or after the change. Did they just make it so you can throw it if you cant see your target? This would make sense....and I wouldnt call that a nerf.
- Yes it works just like any ranged weapon, in that you must be able to see them. No more throwing into buildings.
4. What are the schematic differences with my mind disease/poison delivery packs from lvl 2 cm crafting to master? What other resources will I be needing besides what I can already see in my existing schematics at that level (insect meat, res cp, inf amp etc) ?
- They stay the same more or less. They basically just require more quanitity of the same stuff.
5. If you do think Riflemen is a horrible decision to make explain your reasons why in a detailed manner and offer other suggestions/alternatives. What skills would your recommend overall if your primarily going into everything for pvp?
- You need a weapon with a high speed rating. Carbines and Pistols area better choice.

I think its a horrible decision for a few reasons:
The biggest problem I have with it is that every time you heal it also uses the mind pool, every time you use your weapon you use your mind pool and mind pools are unhealable. So, in effect, you're helping kill yourself every time you heal and/or fire your weapon.
Not to mention the slow fire rates means you won't be healing that often (if at all).
As for the 'l337' doods, who cares? They'll have maxed Doc buffs and/or be on spice. During city takes/holdings as soon as ppl get DB'd they just clone right back in the thick of it so you're really not doing much to them.. /shrug
1. When I reach Master Combat Medic, will I be able to use my combat medicine to its fullest specs given? I.E. will I be able to do ranged stims/diseases from 64-67m as I've heard or not without going up some Doctor trees for extra experimentation.
This would depend a lot on your server. If you have most (or all) of the advanced components it is possible. Most of my stims can be thrown from approx 45-50 M without experimenting on charges and can heal for well over 1000 damage. My ranged/area stims have around 650 stats (I could push it higher but I get a point or 2 on charges). If you want them to have around 500 stats you could throw them farther.
With poisons if you want to throw around 60 meters get copper or aluminum with very high conductivity/OQ and get the advanced components. You can manage that you can throw far and have your poisons tick for 150-200 (as opposed to 450-500 for closer range, heck you could make multiple sets of poisons if you wanted). If the highest you can do on your server is a 300 per tick when having all your points on effectiveness/potency you'll have trouble getting the range you want. This is actually not easy to accomplish and like I said, it varies per server. One adv. component can't be made even if you have the resources do to a loading bug (Resilience Shell).
2. How much more points of experimentation would I have by taking some Doctor alone with my CM and what real difference would I see in my Combat medicine?
While doctor crafting does not affect the creation of a poison itself, it does affect the components (Infection Amplifier, Dispersal mechanism, Resilience Shell). If you get Doctor crafting you definitely will see a difference in the effectiveness of your poisons.
Currently CMs are lobbying to get these components moved over to the combat medic crafting line. I am hoping that soon this will be a non-issue.
3. What has changed with the LOS essentially, I've never thrown one disease pack/poison pack so I wouldn’t know what it was before or after the change. Did they just make it so you can throw it if you can’t see your target? This would make sense....and I wouldn’t call that a nerf.
Basically we now have to see our targets before we throw poison. It's a slightly more complicated issue then you might believe and one that you can check up on if you so desire by going back into previous posts.
4. What are the schematic differences with my mind disease/poison delivery packs from lvl 2 cm crafting to master? What other resources will I be needing besides what I can already see in my existing schematics at that level (insect meat, res cp, inf amp etc) ?
The lower level poisons are virtually worthless. They get resisted far too much and the damage is not worth it. If your a master CM crafter with good components then you could probably make a semi-decent B poison but certainly not at the range you were talking about earlier (why would you make a B when your master anyways?). Either max CM or don't go it at all in my opinion.
For a quick reference materials you will need for the advanced components are:
Adv. Infection Amplifier- Titanium Aluminum, Eleton Reactive Gas
Adv. Dispersal Mechanism- Class 2 liquid Petrochem fuel, Yavin Fiberplast
Adv. Resilience Shell- Class 1 Radioactive, Tolium Reactive Gas
You'll also require access to a factory. The materials should remain the same as you increase in the crafting tree just in slightly greater quantities.
5. If you do think Riflemen is a horrible decision to make explain your reasons why in a detailed manner and offer other suggestions/alternatives. What skills would your recommend overall if your primarily going into everything for pvp?
First of all it is practically a given to max your mind/focus/willpower if your going CM/riflemen. Throw a poison, following up with mindshot2 then mindshot1 then a headshot 3 is enough to finish off practically anyone. Personally I think CM/Riflemen are a fine class combo to become and I almost did it myself. Right now mind damage is the best way to kill someone in PvP and this class combo can probably do it best. It's also a matter of playing style, not everyone likes the way a riflemen fights. It certainly is different from a pistoleer.
-Hope this helps
Actually that info helps alot, thx.
I actually chose a Mon Cal for highest mind pool just for this reason, i will be the Empires BIGGEST headache eventually.. ![]()
One of my characters on Bloodfin is nearing Master BE (3/3/4/4) - taken about 3 months to get there.
Now, I STILL don't understand how the numbers apply.I know DNA samples have 10 stats, 2 for each majorcharacteristic for the template. What I have been doing isapplying the DNA samples with the highest numbers for of the 10 (in pairs) and apply that to the 5 traits.
I've read more recently that since the patch, samples with 50%+ will yield ar1. What I'm not yet sure about, is how to return resistances and specials from the DNA used.
I have about 30 HQ Ancient Graul samples, 5 above average Ancient Bull Rancor (one HQ - gotta love when they attack + kill night sister rangers and are non-agro for 20 seconds after). Also got a buncha HQ Mite Burrower DNA from Endor, with several other misc. items. I had kept a buncha samples from med. armor mobs to see if it'd be possible to make AR2 (Yeah, I know- worth a shot isn't it?)
K - I'd like to know what combinations anyone's come by for AR1 and 50+ energy / kinetic resists. I only fightPvE - so a single pet-tank would be fine for now. Poison + disease would be nice too, but I don't know how affective it is...
Lemme know what I'm missing please? thanks.
