Thread: DNA Sampling problem

I just became a BE and was testing out my dna sampling when after a couple of successful samples (and even more unsuccessful ones) I ran into a rut where I must have tried 40 times to sample different creatures but kept failing. In frustration I was going to take a break and do some crafting when I opened my inventory and noticed that it was full. My guess is that if your inventory is full you can't successfully sample a creature.
Anyone else run into this?

It's because your inventory is full, I actually remember sending them a bug report suggesting that rather than simply failing you shoudl get a message saying you cannot carry any more DNA samples otherwise it's waisting you time else.

Ok I have looked, read and searched. So far I have no idea where I am going wrong.
I am currently novice BE. I have done some crafting and I am currently 1-3-0-3.
My problem is that I have taken a break from crafting and I want to do the sampling tree. I am currently outside of Tyrena, and in the past hour I have sampled about 30 creatures, each 5 times. Want to hazard a guess at how many samples I got ?

I have done BH and that was hard, but this ??!!? It means that I have a success rate of 2/150 samples. That is just stupid. oh, and I started on butterflies near corolag, eventually I thought butterflies may just be not good for sampling, so I moved to Tyrena with the gubburs and Durni's.
I have scout 4-x-4-x (someone mentioned mask scent helps) and I am wearing BE clothing with +25 MS
So - I beg of you - what am I doing wrong ?

At the lower skill levels you will fail a lot. Let me say that again...you will fail a lot
Mask Scent is only good for letting you get near agressive creatures. It doesn't help you sample.
Make sure your inventory isn't full. You will not get a special message if your iventory is full, you'll just fail to get a sample.

On the nose - full inventory. Emptied a few slots and 5 in a row successful

FWIW I have extensively tested this and the sample failure rate on yard trash level mobs is 50%
If you're getting much less then either your inventory is full, or bugged, or you're just in a bad patch, do something else for a while and come back or log off and go have a cup of tea
