Okie dokie, I'm off data gathering again.
It was mentioned in a thread recently that experimenting on a combine actually lowered the CL, which is something I too have experienced but never really paid much attention to it and tbh until now I'd forgotten about it.
So what I need from you all is, if you've noticed this phenomenon, what the combine was, and what experimentation combinations created a lower CL than the 'combine' CL.

sorry, ma'am... you just confused me.
1) are you talking about increasing stats on experimentation and decreasing the expected CL?
2) are you talking about a simple reskin, with a resulting decrease in the donor-to-clone CL?
3) are you talking about something entirely different?
(edit: NUMBER ONE IT IS, THEN. I'll see what I can find.)

I'm talking about using a recipe to make a pet and without any experiment you get X level then using the same recipe, make the pet again but experiment and have the new level less than the level of the pet with no experimentation.

When we experiment we often affect more than one stat. You can get a good or great success because you did well on one stat while another when south. If you aren't paying attention you can miss the lowered stat. Also you can sometimes just nudge one stat while moving another up quite a bit. You still get the good/great success. This is also why we almost never see amazing successes. That is where some of thislowering CL with exp comes from. Generally speaking though I noticed an increase in CL with increasing stats/experimentation. I guess it is a matter of paying attention to all the numbers. Even a failure can lower stats in lines not normally affected by that experimentation.
I remember when the revamp just came out that experimenting on the psyc got you lower CLs. I believe that was since fixed when some of the buggy DNA was cleaned up. Though maybe that still have an effect?

Nancy are you excluding experimentation where we get a crit failure during experimentation? I could see that would drop the CL maybe.

might also help to make some 'standard' recipes available for specific testing to focus...
VD VD HP HP HP or VD HP VD HP HP are two that are widely used, and where I've heard some comments about lower CL's with higher experimentation (than the base, unexperimented CL of the recipe).
I'll be on TC if you want to holler at me.

Yes, thats pretty normal and expected, i'm looking for more anomylous results that can be repeated consistantly

Ive seen this happen often and it does effect creature level, for instance ive seen experimentation on physical go from 412 int/ 406 cleverness, or something along those lines, then move to 500int / 1 cleverness,
Its often the sub stat, but they can go to 1 i found quite often, unsure if its specific recipies tho, il try re-create it and note down the exact recipies when it occurs to see if it matters
EDIT: changed the stats in the example as i dont recall it ever happening to hardiness/fortitude looking back, only to the endurance/cleverness and other sub stats

never tried because i hate having to shuttle back and forth between planets just to make cl10 pets
- usually i would sample about 12 HPs, then about 9 VDs - make some templates stick em in my droid's storage and do it again.

More mysteries.
What are VD HP etc.? i tried looking about FAQ about it, but didnt get it. At many threads are talked about it, but new BEs are lost.
