Got a /tell from a Chef wanting BSN Schem's made. No problem, I'll do it for a fee...

Then they give me a somewhat good qual stack of Wheat to use and 3 stacks of poor Qual meat. Tells me 1st to use more meat then flora. What ??? Check with them to confirm 3 times... They keep saying the same thing.

So, before I even start on the Schem's I put the values into the Chef Calculator and it comes out at 72, 80 & 82 for the 3 different meat types. I tell them what the final stats will be. Then I get a "you did use more wheat then meat, right ?".... After getting into a 3 reply toss with them and pasting the chat log text showing they said "more meat than flora" i just let that go. Put the values into the Calculator and it comes up 80, 82 & 84. Better....

So, now I go off to the Public crafting station so I can use the Experimentation points on it. They start flipping out, "where are you going ?". Tell them I'm at the station so I can max out the Schems. They start getting all pissy saying that I should have a droid... Why ??? My main business is NOT selling Schem's, it's making pre-made crates of tissues in my factories with my +45 stations at home and workshop.

Schem's are done and trade and payment is completed. Get a closing remark from them saying "get a droid". I tell them "NO", My job is NOT to make Schem's for you, my primary is making my own tissues and stuff in MY factories and selling it. Why should I get a Droid just so I can make Schem's every once in awhile when a Chef wants them ? Plus, I use MUCH better resources then what they gave me. So, I get a much better product myself.Conversation ends with me saying "I do not tell you how to so your job/profession, do not tell me how I should do mine. I'm not here JUST to serve your needs. I make and sell my own made crates of these things as primary"... /addignore{player}...

So,I now ask... Is this "normal" ???? I've done Schem's for other Chef's before without grief and back-talk like this many times before ?

please don't make schematics for people

the reason why is i spend a LOT of time to make supplements....... i hunt and spend up to 50cr/u for meat (yah, that's 1million per run) just so i can sell them and make about 100% profit..... while chefs sell brandy for 10k each and make 1000% profit....... when people make schematics, it cuts out the middle man, and leaves my vendors stocked full of supplements chefs would rather get for 25k from someone else

most people just think "hey, two minutes and i get 25k, simple".... but that means next time that chef will come to you and not me, so all my hard work is going to waste
i'm not berating you, just giving you another perspective most people don't think about

Some peole can't see past the end of there nose.

I would have deleted the guys resources, told him had a horrible failure, due to his bitching and then put him on ignore. Next time it happens give 'em something to complain about.

I have a horror story of my own.

This chef sends me a tell, having seen a post of mine on the trade forums, and wants to buy five runs of additives. That's 200 items (205 counting the backpacks), I tell him my price, he tries to haggle, I tell him a first time customer with my smallest order to date does not merit 'special treatment'.

He stays silent for a good ten minutes, I figure he'll find another BE to haggle with, and I don't really care, my prices are more than fair and my quality is better than most I'veseen for sale(+86 BSNs and +117 INs). Then he sends me a tell, "Are we going to do this or what?" Then, two seconds pass, "Come to XXXX, -XXXX Talus"

I don't really like getting commands, so I ask "is that where your vendor is?"

His reply, "I don't have a vendor"

Now, I know this to be a blatant lie. I've seen him spamming his shop, and I've been to his vendor. How he planned to carry 200 items is beyond me. So, being realistic, I know this is prelude to some sort of scam. I tell him "Not having a vendor is ridiculous, I think you'd better find another BE. Good luck!"

Morale of my rant: Don't lie to a BE, because you need them more than they need you (at least in my case)

I must be lucky or something. I hear all these horror stories about working with chefs but I have never had a problem with them. I met a chef on my server about 4 days after I became a master. She wanted me to make full runs of additives for her. I was just starting out, so I didn't have all the materials I needed. She offered to sell me 200k of some very high quality flora, stuff that was selling fotr 5-10 cpu on vendors, for 2 cpu. I sold her some of my first additives at a discount as a thank you for her generosity. Since then she will send me updates on good resources and I do the same for her. We have a very good relationship. She even refuses to pay discounted prices and insists on paying full price on my additives. She's the only person I've ever made a schematic for and, though I would have done it for free, she paid me 100k for it and it wasn't even a full factory run schematic.

Just letting you all know that there are some really cool people out there so don't give up on em just because there are a multitude of asses.

I don't mind making schematics for people. I just don't have the time to do the orders I get nor the factories to do them all if I could find the meats to make them.

I don't play games with any customers. Meet my prices, do without or find another BE. Give me a hard time? Out of luck, I won't do anything for you.

Schematics shouldn't be tradable but that's an old topic.

Personally I've had no problems with chefs. They've always been very polite with me and appreciate the service I provide them.

I have seen the chefs in my galaxy go at each other though which I thought was odd. It was an cut throat arguement about who the best server was and why they're prices are the way they are. They tend to be an arrogant lot generally speaking. Who's the best chef on the server? like it really matters. I mean it is a video game right?

Not sure where that one came from. No one is starting a flame war regarding this guy's post.

Besides, I don't mean to split hairs but it's not SciGuy's forum. It's a public forum to discuss topics concerning chefs.

Nancy,

The thing is, he's not asking whether he should do it. Nor is he debating the issue, he's advertising to Bria chefs, making it a Bria issue (actually should be in the trade forum). So it really does no good to discuss it here in the BE forum. If SciGuy wants to keep things civil over there, my suggestion is to scold that idiot, and lockhis ill-advisedthread. I'm not gonna let this one go. Sorry.

i'm not accusing anyone of starting a flame war, I'm just asking nicely before it starts.

well, I am a Master chef, and MBE, man I must have one heck of an internaldicotomy (/think is that how you spell it?) going on, seriously I have never had a problem with myself (well that one time I drank way too much) and I make myself schematics for free.

Yeah sounds like a real jerk u were dealing with. Also, thanks for giving me the economic insight, I want all my fellow BE/Chefs to make money I know we work hard for it I mean that darn DNA tree....... We earned it!!

So i will think twice before making a schematic for anybody, maybe a guild mate (maybe).
