Thread: Mask Scent or Anti-Mask Scent?

That is the question for me when it comes to Mutant rancors.

Now i know what your gonna say. "Is he nuts?!" maybe. But, I was out getting samples from them last night and got 6 total in an hour. Heres what i had on to start. pants with MS+12 and exploration 4. Hit the masked scent. I then walked right up to a MR and got 4 samples out of it! 4! I was in the wow state at that point.
I then put on my duster+12 MS and my shirt +12. Drank jawa beer. and headed to another MR. This time it aggroed me at 60m away and for the next hour i could not get near it. or any other for that matter. Ugh! but it was going so well! I got sad and decided to go home. so I changed back into my armor for the trip, MS had worn off, and I start running passed the MR's I was trying to sample. GUess what?! I got right up next to one and got a sample. Feeling lucky i tried it again and got another. I felt that was enough and left.

Now, my question to you all is: "What is up with masked scent?" Did it decide to reverse it effectiveness for a day?

and sorry about all the typos. I just woke up.

You got lucky is what I think, lol. But hey, that's usually the way it works. You get shut out for an hour, then suddenly you get a bunch. Kinda like how you'll be crafting pets successfully all night, then suddenly you'll crit fail on 3-4 in a row

Btw, one thing to consider is how you approach the animal. I'm willing to bet that you have a better chance of being masked coming up from behind a MR with +12 mask scent clothing, then approaching from the front with +25 masked scent clothing. I almost never am able to approach an MR from the front successfully no matter how much masked scent I seem to have on.

Just curious, but do other people think if the creature can see you it is more likely to agro you? I always figured they could 'smell' you, so it didnt really matter what direction you came at them. Maybe coming from behind you are down wind As an aside I had a guild mate swear he got better loot when he took his clothes off

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

I think that if you watch closely, when you approach an aggro creature and they notice you, they may get a question mark above their heads, or an exclamation mark. I've heard people claim that it is these "states" that influence what happens next in terms of aggro/no aggro.

/takes out his pet rock and pets it... it keeps tigers away ya'now
