Wow, that title was a mouthfull. Anyway, I really dont make pets. Sure, I can run out to Dantooine and gran a bunch of Voritor Dasher and Hurton Pup DNA and throw together a bunch of class 10 mounts, but I get a lot of requests for Level 20 and up CH pets. I had one person I used to refer pet seekers to, but I dont know if that person is still in business. So, if there are any BE's out there who are actively into pet creation and want customers, please contact Frogmorton in game and let me know so I can start refering customers to you. Thanks!

Anyone else? Come one, you mean there's only one BE on Kettemoor that makes pets regularly? No wonder why Im constantly getting tells from everyone and their kid brother looking for pets.

Theres a list of all BEs who have registered themselves on these forums in a stickied thread that Nancy made, I suggest you check the names there.

Hmmm, I got a BE on Starsider and CH on Ket. I got recipes that involve creatures that don't DB. Is there a way to leave a recipe order? Or would other BEs take offense at being handed a recipe? I never know sometimes.

Ya know, I for one like specifics when people ask for pets. The more the better, and your not going to get much more specific than a recipe.
Just be polite. Should be fine.

I dunno, I try to abide by the "treat others the way you'd want to be treated yourself" and you'll be ok. This has come up 2-3 times this year, and I've turned down those requests, because I considered them to be rude (it was as much in the manner that they asked as in the actual request itself). I don't like being used as a crafting machine, and I certainly don't like it when a customer comes to me in a patronizing tone, trying to teach dumb-old-me in the art of pet making. When I buy a custom droid, or whatnot I don't tell the droid engineer how to make the droid, I just tell them what I need and let him figure out how to accomplish it, and on servers where I'm not a BE and order pets, same thing, I tell the BE what I need (requirements) and give them total latitude in how to fill those requirements. And I expect the same courtesy myself. I do realize others feel differently about this that I however, so anyhow, approach this carefully.

I think what I'll try to stick to is looking at their vendor or the kind of pets they make. If it seems the pets produced arerandom experiments, no attempts to reduce vulnerabilities or max certain resistances, then the BE is probably open to recipes. I usually ask "Hey, you ever tried this?" But I wouldn't take offense if someone said they wanted specials like creature X...then maybe I'd use that creature or maybe I'd know a more common, no DB, orbetter resist version. It's just that many haven't done much research in it and to find the easiest way to do something (like creatures that are not uncommon with no DB) can be helpful. There are a number of BEsthatdon't even try tomake pets cause of the amount of research that goes into it. It's not that they areneccessarily anti-sampling. I used to know a BE on Ket that was more for tailor than pet making, and giving them some simple things to find on say Dantmade it more enjoyable. I even helped search the critters out, made a little field day of it.... then when creation time comes...it's1 for me at the set priceand 5 or so to sell. But you are right, how you present yourself is very important.

Some people take it as a challenge when a person says, I want a CL35 with 60kin, armor, strong poison, intimidate specials, and as much energy resist you can get. While others would say, "I don't make pets, go see X". Which is probably what I would tend to say. Cause I just want to make em on my own and try out recipes, but if someone wants something pretty specific, I'd rather they gave me some pointers on how they think it would work. And if the creatures involved wouldn't require near master scout, then we might have something.
