I need to keep a bit better records, but it seems to me that I can make identical stat creatures using all VHQ , or all HQ with the only difference being pet levels.

I spent MANY hours this morning gathering enough VHQ mutant rancor dna to make a decent kimo (shooting for lvl 70). I had thought these where lvl 70, but i wasnt sure. So i used VHQ Bull Rancor dna (lvl 65) in the psych and aggression slots.

This thing ended up decent 13k hams 580 damage 2.01 speed armor and good resists to everything. BUT it came out lvl 75. maybe i shouldnt have experimented, lol.

After that ended up being a bomb, (even though i can still tame and call it) I spend another 30 minutes gathering a few more Bull Rancor dna. On this i used all high quality Bull rancor dna. Creature ended up Lvl 65 with the same stats except damage was only 430.

Ive made other creatures using my leftover AA samples, and they come out with really good hams, and a lot lower levels than creatures using VHQ dna.

Looking at the two samples i just took of a surefoot brackeset. There is very little difference between them. but again VHQ adds more creature levels. more testing will tell if this is just a fluke, bug or feature.

VHQ
hard 594
fort 314
dex 669
end 515
int 602
clev 379
dep 513
cour 511
fierce 103
power 464

HQ
hard 589
fort 310
dex 666
end 506
int 597
clev 374
dep 508
cour 509
fierce 96
power 463

anyone else notice similar issues.

Curious, at how you distributed your experiment points. I also think the quality of the sample does plays a role, but I have also noticed that experimenting mainly in Phys, Ment, and prow tend to raise the CL. Where as experimenting in Psy, tends to keep the CL lower.

umm. The samples I listed are straight from the dna, not from a combined template. There just isnt much difference that i can find between HQ and VHQ.

I was referring to this part of your post, not the samples of DNA. More specficly the line saying "...maybe I shouldn't have experimented, lol".

hmmm

this seems to bring in the idea of using average quality dna to drop the cl (as well as other stats) for those of us who may be trying to get lower level creatures for lower level CHs

I think it may end up being that VHQ samples allow greater experimentation. I spend some time testing with Surefoot brackeset.

Wild creature stats
average hams 10500
AR none
kinetic 60
energy 55
blast 60
stun 80
restraint 30
heat 30
cold 30
Stunning Strike
Crippling Strike

lvl unknown to me

AA creature

same resists/armor as original
lvl 40
10400 hams
attack speed 2.16
damage 300-310
to hit .44
stunning strike
no second special

VHQ creature

same resists/armor as original
except 31 in heat and cold.
lvl 41
10800 hams
attack speed 2.16
damage 270-280
to hit .41
stunning strike
crippling strike

main difference in these two tests are the damage and attacks. all the other stats came out really close. Only real difference in the templates was the fierceness and power

AA
fierce 95
Power 365

VHQ
fierce 107
power 332

You'll find that the final HAM and damage is effected by the quality of the dna even though in the experimental template stage the percentages are the same. That is why the templates also have a quality stat as well now.
