Well, I claimed my veteran rewards this morning. Here's some info:
The 30k of resource does not need to be a current resource. You are actually given a menu that you can navigate through to seemingly select any resource that has ever been available. They don't make it easy on you to see the stats (you need to navigate to a resource, click on it, and THEN you're shown the stats) but they are there nonetheless. I looked up fish on www.swgcraft.com and selected a very nice spawn of fish meat for my reward (particularly since for some reason eggs have been relatively easy to buy recently on Bria).
Oh, and I got one of the miniature storm troopers and a kit that makes a harvester self-powered. For the harvester self-power thingy it gives you a "kit" that appears in your inventory. Haven't tried it yet. The stormtrooper was dissappointing though. It is SO small, barely comes up to your ankle. I was kind of hoping for something closer to life-size that I could display in my shop, but oh well, nice nonetheless
What are your guy's experiences with the veteran rewards so far?

I've looked through the literature and don't see anywhere where it says that the resources shall be restricted to the current spawn.

This is all the official word I could find: Veteran Rewards Page
"You could choose a Crate of any existing resource (30k), but once you took that, you would not be able to take it again with a future choice"
Which is pretty vague since it could be interpreted as "currently" existing or "historically" existing....
From user posts on "In Live" forum:
"I know a dev said the 30K veteran resource was supposed to be limited to "in shift" resources, but you were able to use it for any resource that had EVER been in shift on TC. Now, on live, it works the way the devs said (only current resources)."
"It's current spawn only. Was only all spawns on Test Center."
"Don't think so. People are reporting 30K stacks of historic resources."
"ever spawned on the given server. I created on TC-Bria a 495 days old stuff. (info via www.swgcraft.com)"
......... so who knows...............

Just because a resource is not spawning doesn't mean that it doesn't exist still.... If it said "You could choose a Crate of anycurrent spawningresource (30k), but once you took that, you would not be able to take it again with a future choice" then I would think it would be limited to the current resources.. but existing can mean that any that has spawn from day one...

This was someone's explanation. Totally makes sense to me.
"You can get any resource still in the DB, if they resources is actually no longer existing anywhere in game, the resource is not able to be awarded. That is why some resources are awardable and some aren't.
So think someone, somewhere for having even one unit somewhere."

by the way... I was able to get some confirmation that it is working as intended. No worries on hurrying to choose your resource
I agree with you'all though, the wording was very ambiguous.

Hmmmmm.....

Just a point of clarification here. If you pick the 30k crate, what you actually get is an item that can be used to obtain the 30k resource. So you can claim the reward and then use the item whenever you want. The item can only be used once.

Im nigh-MBE on chilastra. What do you guys recommend to get 30k of for that reward? Which is more useful? Milk, eggs, fish meat? None of which are heavily available on chilastra. Which is more useful? Milk is the hardest to get I think, so i was thinking of 30k of that. Any feedback?

I wouldn't use it on milk, that's my opinion. On Dantooine, you can collect maybe 1k-2k of milk per hour using pikets which yield around 75-100 milk/ea. So 30k of milk represents maybe 20 hours of milking at most, something like that. But yields for eggs and fish are probably around 1/10th of that (I can get maybe 200 fish meat/hr if I'm lucky).
That says nothing necessarily about the value though, which is dependent on how those things are priced on your server.

I happened to have a couple hundred units of Osri Corellian Fish Meat (around 966 mean stat) from over a year ago. I used my kit to get more of that, because it is usable as excellent meat and for the novelty of having 30k fish... I would recommend the fish.

I grabbed 30k of the current spawn of Endor Eggs, which happened to be very nice quality. I find that I'm always getting Enhanced Myoflex requests since I'm one of the only tailor tissue selling BE on my server. Eggs is the most annoying thing to collect because you have to drive around, delete half of what you find in the lair, and combine the stacks of eggs you get. I also don't deal in the pet stim market so fish is useless for me. Milk is pretty easy to get as Arthur suggested.. Dantooine is great for this.
Anyway, I figured 30k egg was the best way to go.. The only drawback is that now I need 40k of some good Scaley hide to go along with it
... Egg also offered the biggest profit margin.. Each crate of myoflex can go for 60k-80k and 30k egg allows for 80 full crates. That's anywhere from 4.8-6.4 million credits.
