Thread: BE Inspiration and resources over 910 quality

Who has a BE on TC? If you craft while inspired using resources over 910 quality, does it act as though its merely 1000 quality or can you get over 1000 quality in your results? If its the former, it means anything over 910 becomes "perfect" resources, if its the latter, it means you can get "better than perfect" results with very high quality stuff. Debatable which would be better for crafters....

Course I'm still here I troll about whenever I'm bored, I just usually dont post since I dont know what I'm talking about anymore usually, specially with pets, but this is an old school crafter dream, getting a bonus to resource quality. You dont know how much we'd've given to have this back when you had to pay 50-100 CPU to hunters for a good spawn of meat

Seriously think about what you are asking for.

You are going to makeEXACTLY the same quality item as the next guy, and the next guy, and the next guy, etc... Everything is being "dumbed down" to the point to where there is absolutely no challenge to crafting/vendoring at all.

I can't believe players are in favor of this!

Might as well give everyone a generic tool kit that can automatically produce everything in the game (with exact same stats of course)....oh yeah...and an "I win" button.

/sigh

I came back to be a crafter. Now they're taking any challenge there was in crafting and letting a noob craft as well as a 2+ year vet. This isn't good at all. I wish more could see it.

P.S. And no, I don't have stockpiles of uber resources...my account age is just over a year and wasn't playing for half that time.

I've heard this a number of times - that everyone can make the same quality item. I gave up Weaponsmithing on one of my characters, Neutrino, right after the CU because of my concern about this, but I think it is not true of BE pet crafting. Some people can make significantly better pets than others because of a better understanding of the pet-crafting process. If two Weaponsmiths, for example, obtain the same currently spawning resource, the resourcewill have exactly the same stats for both. But there is a far greater variety of creature DNA. It not only varies for creatures of different types, but also for creatures of the same type, and even for multiple samples of the same creature. The more I learn about BE pet crafting, the better the pets I make. I think your point does apply to the other things BEs make though.

But look at the new quest rewards from Kashyyyk, better weapons/armor than a crafter can make anyway. Everyone wants the bolotaur or Kashyyyk bantha or varyctl (sp) more quested itemsand we don't have the skins so we can't make them.

The whiners have won the day and the best we can do is make the most of the situation. This maybe SOE/LAs way of finally driving crafters from the game but we can always try to beat them at their own game.

I don't think I have many uber resources on TC, I might have some really good avian but nothing else to go with it - have to raid all the houses in Subsolaris to see what we have stocked up. And as far as BE goes just having one perfect or near perfect resource out of four required resoucres doesn't effect the outcome that much. I try to use only my 800+ stuff on Live and it's still a craps shoot, either that or I'm an abysmally bad BE.

I cannot speak to pet crafting, but I do know that meds, chef tissues, and tailor tissues are completely deterministic. If you know what your resources are, then you know what your product will turn out to be (other than charges on meds of course, but few people care about that).

The change that was proposed (as I interpret it) will either cause all resources (other than already excellent ones) to craft as if they were better. Whereas it is true that few people have all of the resources to craft tissues at the cap, I believe most servers will have perfect stimswithin a week of when this goes live (I know I will be making them within a few points with just my current stock of resources).

I only wish there weren't as many excellent spawns as there are on Flurry right now. I simply do not have the time to go to TC to check out the way this is working. Like most, I will likely just wait until it goes live and then adjust accordingly.

while on Flurry, don't visit Ojes Yobe's Liquidation Vendors just 800M from Theed starport on Naboo (neg5219 3419) - cause they ain't there anymore! They are now exclusively located in Mos Athens Mall

I can't speak about the other things we make but as to pets anarrion is right. We will be able to use this to our advantage ...

Also ... to Anarrion ... /salute for all the work you've done updating the swgcreatures DNA... should have a fix on being able to actually SEE it soon too

I should have qualified my post better. This isn't going to "hurt" pet crafting at all. I have no issue with it in regards to pet crafting. It's EVERYTHING else thata BE makes that it is going to effect. Like someone mentioned....every crafterin the gamewill soon haveuber stims, enhancers, tissues, etc and so on.

This is going to help a noob? Yeah...for a few weeks/months until they grow weary of the lack of challenge/goals in the profession.

I don't want to sound extreme or anti-entertainer....I'm specifically talking about the resource stat "buff" and how it will effect everything a BE and other crafters make (besides pets). They could increase the duration 10x but remove just the resource buff and it would be fine.

I've always been more of a "fanboi" of the devs and most of the changes they've made...but this isn't a healthy direction for them to take crafting in the game...not just for thesatisfaction of crafting better and better items...but for long term player retention as well.

It doesn't bother me that other people will be able to make better meds. Eventually resources will spawn, people will build up, and things will all level out. Med crafting is not like it was pre-CU anymore.

I do think it will harm crafting though. For a start it takes away from the excitement of rare high-quality stats. The occasional 1000 or old best-ever spawns people were holding onto.

The real problem I see coming is people only wanting to buy capped items in the future. Traditionally in this game when you reach a capped stat, say 80% kinetic Composite, it becomes all that's acceptable. If you can now cap Tensile Resists with a variety of quality, but not perfect, resources who's gonna buy the lower ones?
