Thread: Would Anyone Ever Buy DNA Samples?

I've been a Master BE for about 6 months now and it's about time I retire. My reasons why aren't relevent here but I'll give my final BE post when the time comes.

The thing is I have over 200 DNA samples and I'm undecided about what to do with them. I could make creatures but I'm so into my new pursuits I don't really want to spend the time doing so.

The alternative would be to sell them. Would anyone buy DNA Samples?... I have mostly Bols, Mereks, Mantigrues, Rancors (Gnarled and regular) and a large variety of others (mostly Endor stuff).

Even if I wanted to sell them what would be a fair price? I'm not going to individually price them but instead just come up with an average price per sample. 1k per?... 2k? Any ideas?

I am a master also, but I would not pay for DNA unless there were something very special about it.

I'd probably buy mutant rancor DNA and stuff like that. I guess it would all depend on the samples and the quality.

You might consider running an auction on your trade forum for the entire lot. You'd get a good idea if there is a market by the response...or lack there of.

Based on my experience selling junk pets to (IMO lazy) CH's, I'd think there would be a good market for em. Though the crafting XP is better for other stuff, to me the creatures are far more interesting than grinding meds and components.

Probably not much help on pricing, but maybe 500 for junk up to maybe 5k for real good stuff? Hey, you can always try some and see.

I was really thinking only two types might be interested in buying DNA Samples:

1. Lab rats who would rather not get their hands dirty (or lives taken) by sampling for themselves.

2. Novice (or grinding) BEs who want high quality samples but are unable to get high quality samples due to their inferior skill level.

If you were talking 1k a sample, I'd buy the lot of em... probably at 1.5k a sample as well. But I don't think I'd buy any except the 55+ ones at any higher than that.

If a DNA sample has AR1 and descent resists, I will pay at least 10k for it.

It's not that I don't want to spend time sampling.... It's more that I cannot keep up with the orders I have, and quite literally, more DNA = more clones = more $$$

Not that i'm all about the bling, but I like to keep customers happy and my vendor stocked so I can spend less time on my belly in a dark valley on Dathomir and more time RP and participating in the GWC and doing quests and other content-type crap.

So if you're on Valcyn and want to sell DNA, I will buy.

If you were on chilastra I would happily buy them for 1K each, maybe even 2 K each for those with light armor. It would save me a lot of time, and time is the one thing I never have enough of in this game.

Hi Stag,

Oh no, you're quitting? That sucks man, you were one of the "original" BE's on Bria, and a credit to the profession. Sorry to see you go.

It's funny, I saw the title on this thread and was going to reply "hell no, getting the dna is half the fun" but then realized it was you and what the circumstances are.

I'd be happy to buy some off ya if you want to part with any. I've just got to figure out where to store it, lol.

Have fun in your new persuits, you will be missed.

I certainly appreciate the sentiment, ArthurDent. Yeah, as far as I know I was one of the first few BEs on Bria. Maybe that's why I've stayed BE as long as I have... proud to have stuck it out so long through good times (the new cloning system) and the bad (broken tissue components, bugged creatures... too many to list. lol).

In fact, the single most glaring reason I didn't give up BE awhile ago is my reputation. One of the most flattering things any crafter can hear is when someone says to you, "I hear you're one the best in the galaxy."

lol... i
