I spent around two and a half hours tonight grinding through the first box of the sampling tree, and I was disappointed to find that you still fail around 50% of the time on trash (noob enemies) while working on the second box. It's nice to be able to sample up to three times now before they die, but it doesn't warrant three times the exp cost to move up a level.

Any tips? I've read the FAQ, and it isn't very descriptive about what to sample. I've heard others talk about better enemies to go after, but nothing specific.

Nope, there is no better way. If you think getting to sampling two is too hard - stop now.
You just have to suck it up - trust us it gets better and it does get easier but if you're into any sort of serious pet making then getting sampling 2 is nothing compared to getting enough DNA from a mutant rancor to make a good pet

Oh that reminds me, was anyone able to sample the april fools dragons? If so that would have been awesome exp, they were invincible and can't aggro.

I tried. Didn't work> It said that the target creature was not valid for a dna sample or something along those lines. But yeah I thought of it

Only took me about 2 months to get my sampling xp done. Worse than clicking to grind out levels in other professions in my opinion.

Well, it's going ok now that i've got sampling 2. I'm doing picket lairs, pulling about 5k sample exp from each. Sampling 2 was the hardest box because you don't seem to gain any accuracy from sampling one you still fail about 75% of the time. Now i'm failing under 50%. Oh and pickets give 300-400xp per sample depending on type

Yeah I just got sampling 2 earlier tonight, 1-2 was the worst constant failures etc. But from I've seen so far after two the number of failures seems to decrease dramatically as well as the chance of being aggroed

hehe, that's funny, to tell you the truth the sampling line was easy for me, and I did it all on outer city trash mobs.

I just adjusted my screen to the widest camera-distorting viewieng range possible and ran my smapling macro then worked on my crafting. Sometimes I would even go get something to eat or watch a movie. Only downside to it was, you would have to come back every so often and empty you inventory, and once I came back to my PC to find I hadn't got that many samples and my toon was busy trying (unsuccessfuly) to extract DNA from a Stormtrooper, but other than that, it was easy.

I was the guy chasing mobs around outside of Bestine while AFK.

I didn't think it is that bad I actually had fun doing it, trying out my limit of what I could sample. I found 2 Giant Peko Pekos flying around Kadaara. I thought to myself those things con red to me, I wonder if I could get a sample, /maskscent carefully walk up to them (I know they are nonagro but I did it just in case) /follow; /sampleDNA;"The target is out of range" I look at the distance, hes 20m above my head, darn! I then waited for him to land.... success "You start taking a DNA sample"then "You failed to get a sample" rats, wait for him to land "You start taking a DNA sample" next thing I know the bird keels over dead yeah, it is great fun. I went after a Rogue Flambaset next (after I milk it of course)
