Anyone done any testing with this? Through the course of working out my sub lvl 20 pet recipies I have been getting the feeling that experimenting in Psych. is giving me a lower pet level.

With the Merek Harverster/Picket Longhorn recipie that I posted, for instance, I am getting level 16 when I only experiment Phys. and level 14 when I experiment Phys and Psych.

There is also that monster level 10 in the big recipie thread, that poster also fully experiments Psych. in his low level combines.

Anyone else noticing/tried this?

Thanks for looking.

I wonder...

It is somewhat logical that experimenting the psychology rating to higher percentages should lower the CL of the pet. Psychology, as I believe we've defined, is a heretofore intangible aspect of the creature that impacts the ease with which it learns/responds to commands, as well as its courage in battle. In experimenting the psychology rating higher, you're essentially raising the intelligence of the creature, while also making it more docile and obedient; this, I believe, is the part that is logical. In making the creature more docile, you're making it less ferocious, less disobedient, and less dangerous to handle...thus lowering (even if it is microscopically) the CL.

If someone had the DNA sitting around, it might be worthwhile to try a combine with 5 samples of the same quality from a creature type of known CL (maybe do it a few times with the same quality DNA all around so that any error becomes systematic and therefore negligible), with and without psychology experimentation. One might then note the CL difference, if any; any statistically significant decrease (ie, a consistent CL decrease over the course of several experiments) would be worth noting, as even such a small difference of 1 CL can make the difference between furniture and a useable pet.

I'll run this experiment myself and post the results when I get some time to get a large amount of DNA from one creature of known CL (yard trash would likely be the easiest); if anyone else wants to try it and post their results, then that would be a good thing

i think it just affects to hit bonus and speed. But by lowering the health of course it will have lower CL
