Hi. I am a non-ch and just bought a non-ch razor cat. I was told there was a way for me to name it but it was too complicated to explain. Can someone describe to me here how to do it?

Also will I ever be able to teach it any commands, or do I need a CH to do that for me? Thanx.

You have no taming or training skills so you cannot teach a pet commands and you cannot name it. Take it to a CH.

You have to have CH train it. They have to train it with at least 3 commands with their name in it for the name to store.

For example

April stay
April come
April Kill

etc. then the name April will become the pet name. Afterward, they will retrain it

stay
come
kill

this will allow you to type just the command, or else you will have to type "April stay" each time for the command to work.

It takes 4 commands, which is why a first-level novice can't name theirs yet, but you have the right process.

BTW, if you are having a pet named as a part of getting it trained, you might want to keep the name on the Follow Me, Follow Other, Stay, Group and Store commands, though Follow Me is a bit cumbersome to have to use the name each time.

The reason for this is that you can separately tell your pet, droid, etc, to position here, come with you, go with a partner it is befriended to, or group/disband without influencing the other pets/droids that are there and befriended to you, as well as your own pets. I often position my combat droid back a little from the fight, then send the pet in to attack and have the droid fire to back it up once engaged, and I can group or disband pets without fear of disbanding those already in group, etc.
