not much, but there are some

with armour crafting, the effectiveness is the only resist that can be sliced to improve stats

with creature crafting, the special protection shows up, and effectiveness does not even show through until you experiment on the stats first

not exactly sure because we haven't gotten a guide yet, but that's what i've ascertained through my experience

I think that all effectiveness ratings from DNA samples are magically changed into Special Protects in the final creature...

No, not at all.

This is too complicated to explain, and it is not necessary to explain it yet again here.

Since this is a BE forum, I'd suggest you to read the FAQ sticked above for the answer. This FAQ only answers how special protection and effectiveness affect pet crafting though. If you want to know how they affect armor protection or smuggler slice, you may want to go to the specific forums.

Just a quick summary on how they work - if you have samples with special protections and effectiveness and combine them the special protection type will always override the effectiveness on the final template.
Special protections are not raised by experimenting on Physique - if you combine a template with a max resist value of 45 in an attribute and it is a special protection, it will list as 45 on the template before experimentation and will not raise or lower. If the same 45 was an effective resist then on the template combine it would be a much lower figure and would raise when you experimented on physique.

Effective resists are effected by your experimenting. Basically 10% for every 100 points in Fortitude. But they will reset to zero when you trigger armor. In order to raise the Effective resists after triggering armor, you will have to continue raising Fortitude, which can be very hard in some cases.

Special Resists will stay constant and will not be effected by your experimentation. They will not reset to zero when you trigger armor.
