What pets? Pets are so different that we can't say how much for. Min/mix is about 3k/2m...that means theres a lot of space in between, but expect between 50-200k for decent CH pets, and if you can make Uber CL10 pets then at the moment the world is your oyster.

I'd agree with what most of what Lloyd said, except the part about Chef tissues. I made probably 80% of my money (20 million right now) doing chef tissues. It really depends on your template. My template is different than yours. I'm a BE/Swordsman. I can go out and hunt my own meat for the chef tissues, while you will have to buy all your meat from others. For me, making chef tissues is pure profit, since I also use my own harvesters to collect the resources for the tissues as well. I don't have to pay anyone off for anything, while with your current Chef/BE template you will. And good meat's not cheap! Also, I have a good relationship with a good chef, which helps a lot. He's always buying my stuff when I get around to making it. You'll probably make more money as a chef than a BE right now, unless you get into the uber lvl 10 pet market. Well, good luck with BE!

I disagree with this for 2 reasons:

1) You dont seem to take the value of the resources into account, only the cost.

If you harvest your own meat, thats great, but you need to factor in the *value* of the meat. If the value is 50cpu, and you charge money for your nutrients that counts up to 30cpu for your meat, then u are making a loss of 20cpu. ie. 400k per run loss of value. The reason it is a loss is because you could have sold that meat instead of using it.

Even if you harvest your own resources, you may be losing money by converting them in nutrients.

2) Look a bit furthur in the future of your business...How many runs can you do per week harvesting your own meat? I was using up a few hundred K of VHQ meat a week, and there is no way that I could harvest ALL that myself (As its VHQ I need to stock up on good meat for dry spells as well).

My template was more than able to hunt my own meat as a TKM/BE, but I was too busy making runs of tissues to have time to get meat. When u are small, its ok to go get your own meat to make 1 or 2 runs a week, but if u start making more runs than that then you will struggle to keep up.

I suppose you can look at it that way. I could have sold the meat and resources I collected for more money, but then what would be the point? I would still have to find meat and resources to make my tissues to fill my vendor. That's like looking at a glass and saying it's half full instead of half empty. I like to look at it as still just pure profit on my part. I feel I contribute more to the game making good pets, stims, tissues, nutrients, etc... What would be the point of being a BE/Swordsman template if I was to just sell my resources to other people? So I chose to look at it as pure profit, even though I know I could make more money just selling the resources to someone.

As far as the future of my business, I only deal with one chef, though I have made runs of nutrients for other chefs, but only after making sure my chef was taken care of. So I would only spend like 2-4 days collecting the meat I needed to make nutrients for 2-3 weeks. The rest of the time I would to do mission and putz around doing other things. I know I can make more money having a hectic schedule of just making nutrients, but you get burnt out too quickly doing that, and I like to vary my game play (missions, hunting, crafting). Plus, I make enough money to support my pimping life style as it is. It's all about how much time you're willing to devote to your craft. I chose to spend just enough to make money for me and not go crazy doing it. It's all about balance.

You could say whats the point in making your products if they have less value than the raw resources?

Currently for Chef tissues, a BEs time and resources are undervalued. The reason why so many chefs have BE alts is because they can cut out BEs and make tissues for no profit, which increases the profit they gain from their food, not to mention they gain economies of scale by using the same resources as they do for foods.

I would say that a BE/Swords template would be still be useful in making pets and tailor tissues. Chef tissues are only a part of BE.

I think what Lloyd is saying is that you as a BE aren't making all the money. One profession makes part of the profit by harvesting the meat while the BE side makes the rest by making the final product. Consider:

You harvest 20k of meat that sells on the open market for 10 cpu. You spent 30k on buffs, 5k on bike repairs and 20k toward replacement armor. You, as a swordman, made 145k. You can sell that meat and take the 200k or you can reinvest it.

You harvest 60k of flora that sells on the open market for 4 cpu. Using 1 cpu for maint and energy, you, as a harvester, made 180k. You can take that 60k of flora and sell it for 240k or reinvest it.

You, as a BE take that 20k of meat and 60k of flora and make BSNs rated at 84% which you sell for 800k. You had ~5k of maint & power used

Your profit as a swordsman was 145k

Your profit as a harvester was 180k

Your profit as a BE was 355k

Your expenses were 120k

Now, turn that around, what if you are harvesting meat that sells on the open market for 60 cpu? Nice Herbivore. The value of that meat is 1.2m. If you turn around and sell the final product for 900k, you've lost half a million.

Oh Lloyd, stop being so cynical. Some people play this game to provide the community with a product rather than to make money. For instance, that is the mentallity of Image Designers. He is not making a 'loss' by selling additives at, say 30cpu - he is just not making as much of a profit as he could by selling it at 50cpu. The meat he harvested was actually free, so even if he sold his additives at 1cpu he would still make a profit - just not as much as he could.

If it was fun to make Chef tissues, then I'd have to agree with you, however its pretty boring. On the other hand, I make pets because I like to, but I don't feel that our profit is very good on them. The reason I stick with them is because of the fun involved.

Also I was responding about the profitibility of Chef tissues, not whether crafting them makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
