Thread: Question from a Confused Master BE

OK. I guess I haven't been keeping up with the prior tissue changes to the level i should have been. I could have sworn I understood the whole 'max out a skill' thing. A piece of clothing can only be maxed to +25 for any one skill. But can an OUTIFT carry a TOTAL mod of over +25. Case in point, I make a Doctor outfit with 2 peices at +25, and 2 other pieces at +18, for a total right now for +86. Now a player's personal skill box in the CTRL+S window will say he has an increased mod to med wound/injury treatment of +86, but will that transfer +86 to him? or it still maxed out at +25 even for the total outfit? I am sorry if this is common knowledge, but I had thought I understood before and wanted to make as sure as possible before advertising any more of this stuff. Please someone help out a fellow Master Be and lift the viel of confusion that has lowered over my eyes!!!

The total (of all clothes, species bonus armor plates etc.) is +25.

So an outfit with 4 peices adding to +86 only do an effective bonus of +25, even though your skill has increased by +86 as read in your Skill boxes? Jusat asking to be sure. So you might as well just make a sunguard that has +25 med mod. This blows if so.

I thought the cap was +25 per item...i.e. per piece of clothing.

Each stat has a cap of +25 bonus. That means if you have medical injury healing boosted by +30 you only get +25 because it's a UI glitch that the devs confirmed a couple weeks ago. You can have every skill enhanced at once but each cannot gain anymore than a +25 bonus.

Thank you. That really sucks, but thank you. I have also confirmed a few hours earlier by wearing an outfit giving a 'total' of +30 to Taming. I then tried to tame my BE Gurreck while I am at CH 3323 with no success. It says I do not have the skill to tame him. My Skill mod says that I have +50 to Taming Vicious Creatures. This lends credence to the fact that I had a real skill of +20, then added only +25 for the clothing for a total of +45. Not enough, eben though the skill tracker thingy saud I had a modded 50. Oh well.

You would also need to have your creature levels mod to be 50 as well in order to call it. You can't tame it if you won't be able to call it.

It's just balance. Imagine if you were Master Medic, and some shmoe with Novice Medic wearing a certain set of clothing can actually heal better than you can? Bet you'd be ticked off . These tissues in clothing are supposed togive an edge toskills you have, not make you more powerful than someone who spends much more skill points than you do.
