Hi all-
First off, Happy St. Patty's (pours out a glass of genetically-enhanced green beer for all the dead jedis killed by BHs this week)...
So here's my tip this week. Have you ever noticed that most creatures spawn in the same general area? There are lot of tools out there (such as www.swgcreatures.com) for finding general critters, but I started doing something a few months ago that has really helped.
Let's say I'm looking for Merek Harvesters. Each time I find a lair, I target the lair and /waypoint it. After it saves in my datapad, I rename it to something like "Harvesters5." Each time I find a new lair that is at least several hundred meters from a waypoint I've already saved, I add a new one.
Currently, I'm up to 8 harvester waypoints in the same general area. I'll edit this post later today and give everyone the exact coordinates I use for Harvesters (that alone is worth the price of reading this post
).
As promised here they are:
-2615, 472
-2117, 1983
-2173, 1602
-1640, 1852
-2350, 686
-1723, 2120
-1257, 1801
Now, when I go to look for a specific creature, I open up the datapad and activate all the waypoints for the creatures in question. Once they are all lit up, I simply chart a course and hit each waypoint in succession (using my X-34 speeder - see my prior tip of the week) and keep my eyes peeled. Yesterday, I was able to fill a backpack and my main inventory with over 100 harvester samples in about 2 hours by doing this.
This will work for any creature that you regularly sample for your recipes. I don't know about any of you, but in real life, ocean fishing is a big hobby of mine. On my boat, I have waypoints stored for lots of spots where I've caught specific fish in the past. This works the exact same way.
So, in closing, waypoint lairs for creatures you regularly sample anduse them. Try it, you won't bedisappointed.
Cheers-

Off-topic yet on-topic question, if you target something and /waypoint it will make a waypoint to that target and not need specific coordinates. Am I reading this right? I have never tried it myself but I would use this if it was an alternative to manually enerting the WP coords, a bit of a time saver if it does in fact work this way.

This has always been an issue for me since I was a CH. Another problem is that many animals don't show up except in missions, I wish I could get those missions but I can't.
