Thread: Is there a BE FAQ since the changes?
How do I affect creature resists? Is it through experimentation or from the properties of the DNA samples? Is it an average of all the sample used or is it from being used for specific slots in the generic template? Can they be adjusted beyond the "wild" creature's resists, or do they just affect what's already innate?
Same thing for Armor Rating, how do I get it for my creatures?
Again for the special attacks, is it from all samples or specific template slots?
I've seen some pets with ridiculous HAMs, how is this done? Does the "DNA from creatures <= 10 levels higher thatthe creature your making" rule no longer apply?
Can I "give" creatures a ranged attack (even if it doesn't normally have one) based on DNA samples that have a ranged attack?
Is it possible to change a creature's innate aggressiveness (ie. make non-aggro)? What about the level of ferocity?
Can creature size be controlled yet? If so, how?
Where's the option to experiment? I've tried with a +14 tool and a +43 station and the option didn't come up. Does it depend on the quality of the resources used or something?
Is it possible to "mass produce" creatures in factories yet?
How do I make a CH-controllable Kimogila? Do I just use crappy DNA samples to keep the level down?
What are the "ideal" stats for DNA samples now? I've looked all over and can't seem to find over 800 in any single stat (not to mention pairs)... the old guides mentioned getting over 900 (from Gnorts no less)!
Do the new chef foods use our existing food-enhancers or are we getting new schemas?
Do Advanced LS and Advanced BEC still have no influence on Vitality Medpacks?
Kind of a side-question, but important to making my future business plans, is the new Mollusk/Crustacean catcher usable by anyone? Does it have a number of uses? Is there a "quality rating" based on how it was crafted?
Thanks,
What I'm looking for is an updated guide since the fixes came in for BEs. All the current ones talk about "this is broken" and "that's not worth it", but I know a lot of things are different now and I'm looking for a little help understanding them.
Such as:
I've seen some pets with ridiculous HAMs, how is this done? Does the "DNA from creatures <= 10 levels higher thatthe creature your making" rule no longer apply?
Correct it no longer applies. The stats and the skins are basically independent of one other. Almost all the creature abilities/stats are dictates directly from the DNA/DNA ordering/experimentation. The CL is then dictated from these stats. (With the minor exception of the CL minimum imposed by the skin)
Is it possible to change a creature's innate aggressiveness (ie. make non-aggro)? What about the level of ferocity?
The aggro list is in the FAQ, however I don't know about the ferocity, good question.
Can creature size be controlled yet? If so, how?
Nope, no control. I'd assumed the size would be dictated by CL, as in Carrion Spat/Giant Carrion Spat. This does not seem to be the case.
Where's the option to experiment? I've tried with a +14 tool and a +43 station and the option didn't come up. Does it depend on the quality of the resources used or something?
Several possibilities. 1) Make sure both tool and station are of the food/chem variety. 2) Try picking up and replacing the station. Some times they get bugged and this fixes them. 3) Your out of range. Try standing on each side to craft. The Station is working if you get the option of crafting advanced med subs. 4) You are in the interference between two stations of the same type. Make sure crafting droids etc are put away. 5) Your bugged. If nothing else works I'd talk to a CSR.
Is it possible to "mass produce" creatures in factories yet?
All factory runs require that the resource in the input hopper eaxactly match the ones dictated in the schematic. Until we can get identical DNA we won't be able to make creatures in a factory.
How do I make a CH-controllable Kimogila? Do I just use crappy DNA samples to keep the level down?
No. You use DNA appropriate for the level you want the kimo to end up. Please remember though that the minimum level for a kimogila is 40. So using DNA of a level much lower than that is a waste. You'll end up with a CL40 kimogila with bad stats.
What are the "ideal" stats for DNA samples now? I've looked all over and can't seem to find over 800 in any single stat (not to mention pairs)... the old guides mentioned getting over 900 (from Gnorts no less)!
The ideal stats are the ones which give are at the upper end of the CL range your trying to make. Stats over 800 will basically give you creatures well above the CH controllable range.
Do the new chef foods use our existing food-enhancers or are we getting new schemas?
Talthazar was nice enough to post an initial list of the schematics on the baord a few days ago.

Good question.
