Thread: Can this pet be greatly surpassed?

Greetings oh knowledgeable Bio-Engineers! (nothing like a bit of flattery to get you started I always think ).

I'm currently in possession of a very nice pet, my all-time favourite, named Scratchy, made by a bio-engineer on Eclipse. It is a Lvl 31 Gurreck, 10k/10k/9k HAM, 31% kinetic resist. All other resists are low and I have no idea what his attack speed and damage are- he does dizzy and stun specials though.

Now, I only want a pet for PvE. I don't think pets are worth bothering with in PvP, and in PvE all I want him to do is a) keep up with me on my speederbike fairly well and b) tank effectively. He does this admirably although he isn't so good against NPC-type enemies and tends to need a lot of healing against them.

My question is, is it possible in your eyes for this pet to be significantly improved on? Could an experienced, knowledgable and skilled BE make a pet that is leaps & bounds better than Scratchy there at doing those 2 jobs? I wouldn't mind if the pet was a lot higher clvl than that, all the way up to 70 if nessecary, but in searching various BE vendors I have never seen any pet that was far enough ahead of Scratchy to make me think "wow, I need to buy that and get MCH". I don't need high damage, I'm not bothered about specials (I'm a TKM, I have all the specials I need already ) and I'm not overly concerned with anything other than kinetic resist, but the gurreck speed is a must, no slow-ass kimos or rancors

Grateful for any opinions

Depends on what you meant by "greatly".

Can it be improved upon? Absolutely. You have 2 options.... the 35 lvl limit for dual pets and the 70 lvl limit for single pets.

For the 35 lvl limit, it is definatley possible to get and 11k/10k/9k HAM, 45% kin resist, light armor, strong poison cat that will sit just under or right on the 35 lvl limit.

For the 70 lvl limint, there is some crazy stuff out there... easily 13k HAM, 60+% kin resist, light armor, 700+ dmg. And probably some even better.

Hope that answers your question.

I could bust out a 60% kenetic resist and keep the CL about the same to bad your not on tempest server

skins dont matter it could stay a cat. Try to find a BE around you and leave him alone for a day to make the bad boy. Nothing worse then a coustomer acting like a child from the back seat of the car "are we there yet, are we there yet" (is it done yet, is it done yet) you get my point

heh I made a gurreck with 10k/9k/10 HAM %51 kinetic resist and about 300 damage at lvl 28.

I tamed it for mysaelf but then a week later i made myself a lvl 70 kimo with 13k HAM about %56 kinetic and it has strong poison.

Thanks for the replies

I think I'll have to hunt out a good BE on Eclipse and talk specifics If any are reading this who can help me give me a shout, I'm more than willing to pay very well for your services.

LOL yes I get your point entirely! I've played crafters before, most notably in DaoC where I had an LGM Spellcrafter, I know full well what it's like to have annoying customers - I go out of my way to be a model customer now, even to the point of supplying resources if required

I use a different pet against NPCs than creatures. Better blast, acid, electric resists. I have a BE choku that's real effective and doesn't run off like some of the cats do.

I just made a run of pets CL28-37 all with Light Armor 60%Kinetic Cats...but I'm on Tarquinas.

For PvE you really don't need all of that mind though. Monsters don't target pools, so a 12k/8k/5k HAM will do fine, and health will still be the first thing that falls. Also, if you're using 2 pets you can cycle each one in and out of battle to heal their mind with tricks. A simple ** /tellpet follow; /pause 2; /tellpet trick2; /pause 2; /tellpet attack **macro would solve all of your mind problems.

If you want just a tank that does nothing else than take hits, you can get a Light Armor 60Kinetic pet around CL25-28. You could take the armor off and have a CL16-20 pet with just 60%Kinetic, those are still pretty spectacular pets.
