Hi all! I know that we have had many, many pricing discussions about BE pets of various levels (and have found them to be very interesting) but i have not seen a discussion on how to price BE pets made with trash dna andno experimentation.
I received an interesting /tell last night asking for 1000 "trash" pets in mount skins. I don't have the time nor the storage to make 1000 pets quickly but it did get me to thinking about how "trash" pets made for CH XP grinding or mounts should be priced as a community.
I'm on wanderhome and have seen a variety of BE pets (different cl, different stats combo) on bazaars going for a wide range (500-6k). I have not found many BE vendors so I cannot compare their prices for such critters.
Quality issues aside, how do you or would you price "trash" pets?

Aberdeen,
I found they seem to move in the 2-3K range. Interestingly, they sold better for me in Theed rather than Coronet, which is weird for Wanderhome. I'd just tack 'good for CH training' on the bazaar description.

Aberdeen,
Sounds like someone was looking to either 1. CH training exp through their 4th box or 2. Resell at higher numbers. Either could be correct since they specifically asked for Mount skins.
I make "house decor" pets on email request only and only a max of 5. I charge 1k for the smaller models and 2k for the rancor, graul, kimo models due to the higher resource usage.

Hmmmm, couple things....
1000 pets, huh? Is your customer aware that pets can't be factory made? 5000 (at least) DNA samples will take anAWFULLY long time to obtain, even buffed on vasarian brandy or other similar goodies.
And all mounts skins, too. Sounds like your customer may be trying to score some cheap mounts to sell after taming them, as well.
Given this, 2-3K at least. The time it will take you to make all of it if you really commit yourself to 1000 doesn't even justify 2-3K per pet. Just my opinion, of course...

On 'trash' mounts - I actually label them 'cheap seats' - and sell them for 5k a pop. Decor animals which are intended solely for decorative purposes usually run in the neighborhood of half that.
My 'good' non-ch pets are actually a bit more expensive than teens simply because they hit the non-ch level and I charge a premium for average hams over 2k.
I've been using an excel spreadsheet to price my pets and right, wrong or otherwise, it seems to be well received and if nothing else keep my pricing consistant within the pricing scheme I use. If you have excel - look at www.swgbio.com/petpricing.xls. I never went back and added a premium for the mount models but if someone wanted to do that I don't think it would be out of line given they can do double duty.

I am currently a M Ch and a 2-1-3-1 BE. I have made several trashed pets, mostly in squall, vir vur, durni and gurrcats (lvl 6 and lower with expexted HAM 200 and lower) and Labeled them Decorator Pets. I have been selling them for 500-3000 cr without any problems.
I have had another CH as me to make a bunch more for the xp where he is buying them at 1000 a pop (he has plenty of credits to waste). As for the mount skins... I have been working on even Hamed cu-pas and dewbacks for the NON -CH. So I grow them and sell them mounted for 5-10K depending on how low are the HAM and CL. I have sold NON -CH , non - Be mounts for 5k standard.
I am not looking to make big bucks on below average to average quality mountable pets. Especially since mostly new players are buying them now.
These are just my thoughts as a new BE.

Personally, I'd ask the customer to supply a case of good BE enhanced brandy + 1000 credits per critter. If they whine, explain to them that 5000 samples + the manditory failures even on "yard trash" = LOTS of downtime, sitting on your arsewaiting for your bloody Mind bar to regenerate.
And, I'm not sure how it is on other servers, but Restuss on Rori would make a great sampling ground for this venture... tons of "yard trash" and no players hunting.

Vraell, this probably is one of the most sensible ideas for CHs wanting ridiculously large amounts of grinding pets. I have to agree, either they pay us a premium price per pet, or pay a lesser price per pet, but supply the brandy that would make sampling a lot easier.

A month or so ago, I decided to advertise my vendor on the Bazaar. I made the worst pet I could (usually a kaadu), and named it "Don't buy this pet, you'll pay too much! Get cheap pets at..." and my vendor location. I usually charged Bazaar maximum for it. They never remained on the bazaar longer than 24 hours. One sold while I was on my way home from the bazaar.
Even if it was just my competition trying to cut down on my advertising, it was faster than doing a mission.

I've sold all my trash pets on the bazzar for 6k without a problem....they sell to CHs looking for ch exp. Here is my system: Picket Plains Walker Lairs on Dant for 9k. Before I DNA sample, I milk the creature. I DNA sample the lair to death. I get 9k for the mission. I get Bio exp for crafting the template, then the creature, and I sell the milk on the bazzar for60cr a unit (100=6k) and they sell without a problem as well. All in all, I'm making anywhere from 150-300k a day. Nothuge compared to a WS or AM, but pretty decent none-the-less.
