Thread: Noob question on SEAs and yes I did read the Issues thread!

And I'm still not sure I understand this correctly. I'm thinking ofgaining Master BE to primarily make meds, poisons and diseases plus maybe at some stage do tailor tissues and food additives. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of the /respec option so I'll be grinding up to Master. Before I make that time commitment though, I'm wondering where things stand regarding SEAs as I'm poor and will be starting my BE business from scratch.

My question is, do I have to collect / buy a truck load of SEAs to be able to make competitive products? If I understand the Issues thread stickied here correctly, it looks as if old Combat Medic SEAs no longer work (although not clear if this is a bug or intended), seems Doctor / Medic SEAs do work (so I won't be able to make good stim Ds without 12 experimentation points) and there's no mention of food or tailor tissues (assume no change, ie no SEAs drop anyway so all Master BEsequally competitive).

Is that a fair assessment or have I misunderstood something. Thanks for your help in advance.

This doesn't really answer the competitive question but ...

You might want to try running the borgle bat cave and torton cave on Rori. You can get a lot of +1 sometimes +2 SEA's from the boxes in there (the creatures are about level 18-30 I think - cannot recall) and you'll sometimes get medical assembly or experimentation ones. You might, with much work and a medical crafting apron, eventually be able to work yourself up to an 11 point crafter at master BE. (you'd need another +5 of CA's above the apron's +5 distributed in your clothing).

Be warned however, cave running is addictive

To be competetive in medical crafting you dont need 12 points.
You can max out the power line with 10 points (which you will have at BE 0004), and additional points just increase the number of charges (my guesstimate would be around 1 to 3 charges).

You have full medical crafting abilities at BE 0004, if you want to do chef and tailor stuff you need to be MBE to get all schematics.

You can get +5 from an apron (right? theres med crafting aprons?), and with the discovery of Aakuan loot, +5 SEAs are coming down in price a lot, so being 12 pt isnt the arduous journey it was once

as much as I hate to say it, if you're making meds, you only need BioE 0404 and +20 in med crafting/med assembly SEA's.

there is currently no advantage to mBioE for a med crafter. there are additional tailor/chef tissue options at master (and a boost to DNA sampling, and additional clone skins), but 0404 is all that you need for med work.

For _just_ medical items even BE 0004 is enough. You do not need x4xx - that line is only important for chef and tailor products.

Once again thanks for the feed back everyone, it's very helpful. I'll probably master BioE anyway as I'd like to get a good feel for the profession as a whole (I might really enjoythe DNA sampling / templating side of things, you never know 'til you play it:smileywink but it's good to know that if that side of things doesn't appeal I can drop some skills and still be effective in the stuff I want to do. So thanks again for the feedback.

Just one other question though, when BioEs refer to "meds", do you mean all of the CM and Doc related products? Guess my question is, do all of theseproducts now use med exp / med assembly? ( ietheSEAs used by doctors pre CU can now be used to craft Combat Medic enhancersas well as stims etc - I guess if this is the case I really will need to get myself some SEAs:smileysad. Thx again.
