This only started to happen to me today but I cannot sample at 15m now. I receive a "You are too far away to sample" message and have to move into 13m to begin sampling. Is this a bug or did it change and we weren't informed or we were informed and I missed it?

It could simply be that you are too far away in the sense that you are 15.XX away from the target. I noticed that sometimes in combat I would be 5m away, yet I would get the too far away message. I also got the same thing DNA sampling, just moving a step closer would show the same distance, but not give the message. Same in combat as well.

Theres ranging problems with a lot of creatures, its not just unique to sampling. Sometimes with my pistol I can fire from 40m out, sometimes at 25 i'm "too far from target"

it has to do with the location of the critter not properly updating with your client

No, I think the range was changed. I spent too much time collecting samples the past couple of days for it to be a lag issue.

Didnt say it was a lag issue- its a server-side issue. The creature is moving, and the game recognizes its "real" position in one location, but some bug is causing its "drawn" position to be different. What are you sampling? I notice this happens most often with larger creatures, though sometimes NPCs will hang and warp and hit me with melee from 45m too

Moving mobs being in one position and seeing them in another is a "lag" issue....the client is lagging behind the server in updating your/mob's location...same thing you said, just different word Warping is something totally different..that a server program problem.

I was sampling malkocs among everything else on yavin, endor and dath....and if you catch one (any mob)laying down you can check the sample distance by moving forward 1m at a time until you can sample.

LOL yes it CAN be a lag issue, IE it can be server/client desync that causes the disparate locations, but it can also be caused by a purely server-side glitch, where the disparation occurs because the server is sending your client the location a few seconds slow, in effect.

But thats really immaterial. If you're saying that you NEVER can sample from 15m anymore, that would be a different scenario, but I dont think anyone has said that, just that they're having intermittent trouble sampling when they should be well within range.

Corrected: I have just done some sampling at 15 meters.....not sure what's happening.
