Could anyone care to explain to me how this sampling works?
I managed to sample a lesser plain dewback on Tatooine, got a crapy sample but still manage to do it. But then I shuttled to Dantooine to take some bol pack runner DNA but there I keep on failing even tho I have boll as schematic
Should I go back to Tatooine and sample dewback's for lousy 250 isch exp every time?

there is a bug where it wont even let you sample but it sounds like you were just failing. it happens, its just really bad luck. next time it happens just log out for a few and back in, do a rain dance in your house then go back out to sample more dna.

Think of the creatures in the environment as 'DNA resource sacks'. What their shape is has no relationship to what you can make with their DNA. So you can sample any animal at all, depending on your skill.
The level of the creature determines whether you can sample it and this depends on your own DNA sampling level.

Hi,
If you get a couple of fails in a row, double check you have space in your Inventory. If it's full you will just keep getting the fail message.
Cheers
Anity.

um. see, I KNOW that, and I'll admit that I forgot to check that last night, myself. I had picked up another 60 items to transfer to a house from the bank, and... yeah. you're never too smart to do something dumb.

my advice for DNA sampling xp:
novice BioE to DNA1: CL2. if you're feeling really lucky, try CL5's.
DNA1 to DNA2: CL17-22.
DNA3 and up: CL35-40.
sample nonaggros only. sample dense spawns, and fast respawns. /sampleDNA and /sit.
bigger CL's mean more xp... but you get more xp/time the less you fail. I'm regrinding the DNA line now to make sure it still works post-CU... with double xp, DNA 1 took about two hours, DNA 2 about an hour and a half, and DNA 3 and 4 about an hour each.
the low end is definitely tedious.

Anyone had any luck sampling CL 80's or higher? I have yet to successfully sample anything that high as a MBE.

I managed to sample a CL75 malkloc twice then failed about 20 times in a row. Seems sort of lame, I wish there was a way for us to easily know our boundries and limilts and for it to be consistent.

75 has always been the BE cap before. There has been no evidence of this changing in the CU.
Some other culprits are a full inventory or, if you weren't master, the cap for your level of the DNA tree.

I believe as a Master you have a 5% chance of a successful sample at CL75 so you will fail more often.

I spent a couple of hours sampling CL 65-75. You may go 10 times and only get 1 sample...that's part of the fun

I was wondering, how canI tell what the cap for my level of theDNA tree is? I'm a 4/4/4/3 BE and have no clue if I'm failing on attmepts becasueI'm unluckyor becuase I am simply unable to harvest from the mob. Should I be able to harvest from CL61-75?
Also, can a 4/4/4/3craft cl70 pets?

last question first...yes you can craft CL 70 pets and you should be able to sample up to CL 75, BUT as MBE, I get less than 10% sucess on CL 75's. Without the bonus at Master, you will get a lot of failures trying to sample anything that high.
