Hi folks. Everyone probably knows the value of a vehicle when it comes to sampling DNA. Mask scent, hop on, find your quarry, hop off, sample, hop back on and wait for success or aggro. Rinse and repeat.
However, something some of you may not know is the difference between using an X-34 landspeeder and a speederbike or swoop bike when it comes to actually finding creatures.
The way it works is this - everyone knows the X-34 is slow compared to the Swoop and Speeder. If you are trying to get to a POI at the far end of the planet, an X-34 is the wrong tool. However, if your goal is to cover maximum ground and actively look for creatures, it's the perfect tool. All of us who have been playing the game long enough have had a group of creatures spawn right on top of us as we were crusing along. The issue with the faster bikes is that they actually traverse the terrain faster than the client can update and spawn creatures. If you've ever been crusing along on your swoop bike through an empty landscape only to stop for a few seconds and have creatures spawn, this is what you are experiencing.
The beauty of the X-34 landspeeder is that it is faster than a mount but it seems to keep up with the spawn rate, at least on my server. I've been using one exclusively for sampling sessions for a while now and I'm amazed at how much more productive I've been. I've got a whole backpack full of BMBQ samples as proof.
Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

The ride is much smoother as well. I get a headache from bad framerates.

My main problem with the swoop is that when I dismount, I end up up to 100m away from where my bike is...I'm guessing it's a lag issue, perhaps from travelling too fast? I'll try the landspeeder out

another tip that im sure many of you know, but some may not... try the new chef foods when sampling DNA... the BE brandy and the canape combo will boost your mind so high its just sick.

Well does that mean we can actually sample between out of Mind breaks? *g*
