Hi all.

Just wanted to see how you guys are getting along with JTL... I figured I would share my STORY OF THE WEEK... I think I willl title them that from now on so Clawmagnum man and others (if there are any) don't take offense to my off topic ditties.

So I have been the suckiest time figuring out ship components trying to stuff enough stuff in my Y-wing to make it worth flying. I hooked up with a novice shipwright in the starport and he has given me a bit of advice and help and made me a full run of MARK I parts for the thing... which I think SUCK... but the real trouble I am having is I can evaluate the "starter ship" to understand what I had v.s. what I have. Which is anoying. But anyway i finally decided to scrap my $80k Y-wing and go for a Z-95 and see if I could deck that out better. I thought I did ok, so I took off to Lok to start Tier 2. It seems slower, but it is tough to tell in space.

I got to Lok and sure enough the rat &#@(@ Nym and his boys still hate my guts. so I have to deal with their crap while trying to talk to Lady Moisha or what ever (I think it has a Z in it... I hate Z) and I am trying to decide what I want to do. I notice 15 people from the guild are all around me and one dude I don't know asks if I want to group... I figure sure I am just trying out a new ship if it sucks (600dmg again NO idea what starter ship was doing) then I have back up. So he invites I battle through Nym's little sissy girls taunting them as my pet (GEO) rips them apart taking so little damadge.

We go to launch and I say rdy? he says hang on then I get an ok and poof there he goes. So we get to space and I look around for him then realize I am in a Y-wing... not mine it's now a deed... it HIS... CRAP!

So we figure what the heck we'll try it. Well I will just say it SUCKED secret research data... we were always shooting at different targets so I would constantly lose mine and then when I could see he was chasing one interceptor and I knew threre was another that would drop in behind I would turn... it never failed just as I had him in my sites with his cheap $#^(* Ion cannon he would pull up... AHHH!! I was going nuts! It totally sucks not being in contol of the ship.

I have an old Logitech Wingman Force Feed back joystick with 9 buttons and a throttle wheel so I am used to being in control. So even though it was 12:20AM I was determined to have fun for the day. So I went back to Nym's got another mission without incident and then took off with my self outfited battle star galactica X-wing Knock off (Z-95). It seemed a bit slow but I thought my 6-800 dmg output should be killer... I flew around to my wps and killed the ties some where much more dificult in this ship, but I don't know if that is my ship or the tier2 causing the change.

The damage seemed to be less so I am going to go back to the starter ship next time. I think I was at the last wps and was doing ok it was about 1:30AMand I was ready for it to be over. I was fighting a couple interceptors and there was some other stuff happening around and such the whole time which never interfeared. But wouldn't you know I nail the one interceptor and then target the next take a shot nail it as it flies by... CRAP that was a Z-95... it was a tier 2 corsec ship or something but all the sudden they are ALL over me... I am shooting the interceptor and almost have him when I stop shooting... I think CRAP my old j-stick is finally going... this blows... the button is stuck... nope... the message is clear now weapon disabled.

NOOOOOOOOOOO.... [EJECT] comes on the screen just above the radar... so I hit it since can't shoot anyway.

BLAMMMMM!!! my ship blows to bits!

Drops me at the space Station and 2230 later it's good as new... I think... I wonder if subs are ok. I guess I will see.

After all that I still love space... and I am pretty sure I will be droping TKA (0040) & MBE to get shipwright so I can re-engineer my own stuff... I figure I will drop TKA first and see how I like it becasue getting back there is much easier than MBE... besides depending on the Cobat rebalance I would much rather have a GUN!

So if anyone has an Idea of what parts are decentPLEASE GOD SHARE!!!

And that concludes GMAN's STORY OF THE WEEK!

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

I am so there with you GMANHNC. As far as I can see, the only difference between the TIE ship I had built by a friend and the one that is regular Imp issue, is the proton launcher ability....oh yeah, and the Engine. Before, I was going like 1048'ish.... now I am up to 1488. I find the TIE is great on turning, and decent on firepower...although a little slow for my taste.

I like your choice of joysticks. That's the same one I used to use. Wish I still had it but, the wifey sold it in a garage sale when I went out of town on business one weekend. Blast her for that.

hmmmm.....

So your starter ship was doing 1400? I think my upgraded ship is doing under 400. I will have to check and report back.

TheTIE the Empire issues is slower than molasses on a cold day....not uprgradeable.

However, theTIE my friend made for me, with the stock engine that hebuilt for me only put out around 1,000-1,100 speed. I have a Tier 2 Mon-Cal looted engine in there now and it pushed the speed up to1,400+. I can keep up with the privateers now. Theywere blowing right by me.

When you buy a ship mass is key. Hit points are nice but mass is everything. You can add better engines, shields, armor, and weapons if you have enough mass to hold them all.

Sheilds over armor. Armor may absorb more damage but only once. Sheilds regenerate and you can manipulate them if you have a droid. If you must have armor put it in the back of your ship. You may get hit a few times head on but typically the enemy will try to come in behind you. If your rear is armored you'll fair much better.

Re-engineering. Two or moreengines of the same level can be re-engineered to make one better engine. The engineering tool combines the items using the highest stats of all the parts. The new engine will have all the high stats together in one nice engine. Re-engineering can not be experimented on. The stats are static so you know exactly what to expect when the engineering is completed. You can take a high damage high mass weapon and combine it with the same type of weapon of the same level that has lower mass and end up with a high damage low mass weapon.

Again, mass is everything.

Thanks for the tip... I will share my stupidity... I walked up to the shipwright trainer and stoped... surerendard ALL TKA (0040) and Brawler (4000) and then clicked on the shipwright traienr to get novice shipwright... HAAAHA sorry CHUMP you need Artisan (4000) HAHAH AHA

CRAP! had I known this I would not have done... but oh well... so I am at 2000 so far should have 4000 by week end. Man I hate when that happens. (have to dig up my macros)

So I am going to try it, but If I don't like it I will stay MBE... If I do goodbye BE for a bit.

You only need the engineering branch in artisan. It is all crafting xp. Make food and chem crafting tools until you can make wind machines. A couple of windies will complete your crafting xp in no time.

Shipwright is an elite profession but master SW does not require any AP points. Master is a bajillion craft points. Be prepared to beg borrow and steal resources. It takes an insane amount of material to make a ship.

Craft Y-wing Longbows. They give real good xp.

good to know I will try that I have made an insane amount of 10 sided dice so far

they have it totally broken out on the shipwright board so I think I know what to do.
