Thread: Any Pet BE's out there?

I hope this doesn't infringe on the 'no trade' rule in this forum, but I need help.

I have become a little frustrated with the seeming lack of Pet BE's. I have been a CH on Tempest for closeto a year now and still don't have a regular source for BE'd pets. No one seems to really follow that path. There are people who have a couple left laying around that they made 4 months ago, but the trail for a good pet BE is quite cold, it seems.

The point of my post.
Could someone please refer me to a BE on Tempest who makes pets?

Thanks.

the issue for BE pet's seem to be simply this

1. it is hard abd sometimes a hugh waste of DNA to gauge pet levels for CH players
a. this is due to changed un-noted and randomly done by developers
b. a pet DNA stats combined with sp1/sp2 and damage/attack speed are VERY random
c. it is hard to geuss what skins are popular , and will sell
d. gauging levels for a 2 pet max 35/35 isnt that bad but what skins?
e. gauging good 3 pet combo 23/23/24 is awesome, but very tedious for what one is willing to pay for it, and then again what skins
f. it seems alot of people dont stay with MCH long has no benifits to PvP.
g. I want the CH profession more effective it would help the profession and my sales
h. most dealings with CH proffesions want a pet right now,,, in less then 12-24 hours
i. there are bout 10-15 recipes for effectively good pets,,, and about 3 good ones for CH right now, that are shared abd known
j. now there is no holo grind for jedi, MBE that are here will stay, and very few for the future, this is the base of high qanity of resources, that onced crafted, most tailors, and chefs dont want to pay more then 3-5 cpu/resource unit, this is hard on BE's unless they are scouts, or artisans as well, to mine that resource quanity, which leaves no skills for a combat/defense proffesion. everyone knows that good flora, hide, meat, bone, and ect. goes for 10cpu at start.

this is a good reason for a slow production of the profession, and the rarity, but even as a rarity you would think that the production of the wares BE create would increase, however most will simply just not by anything from a BE, unless they find a cash self starving one.

This looks like fun.

ummm not really. At one point someone posted a pet level formula that works so-so. It’s a good starting point. After playing with it for awhile you get the hang of what it’s going to take to make a certain level.

a. this is due to changed un-noted and randomly done by developers

I don't think the programming was random at all. There's a formula there somewhere. It might involve a slight random factor in it, but we should be able to get a close approximation as to what the code is really doing.

b. a pet DNA stats combined with sp1/sp2 and damage/attack speed are VERY random

Nope. Formulas for these things were posted about 2 weeks after the big BE pet creation changes went into effect back in December of 2003. Those formulas can get you within 1-2 points for damage and AS. As for specials, the research on this was done way back then as well. I think there’s something in the FAQ about it.

c. it is hard to geuss what skins are popular , and will sell

Mostly true. Cats seem to be the biggest sellers cause they run so darn fast. Rancors sell pretty well too cause people think they’re cool. Banthas and Cu Pas seem to sell fairly good as well. Especially if they're under level 11.

d. gauging levels for a 2 pet max 35/35 isnt that bad but what skins?

See above

e. gauging good 3 pet combo 23/23/24 is awesome, but very tedious for what one is willing to pay for it, and then again what skins

I have at least three decent recipes for lvl23 pets that are only second gen. It’s just not that hard. See above.

f. it seems alot of people dont stay with MCH long has no benifits to PvP.

Yep, too true. Met lots of people that got MCH then dropped it a few weeks later.

g. I want the CH profession more effective it would help the profession and my sales

Amen brother.

h. most dealings with CH proffesions want a pet right now,,, in less then 12-24 hours
Yeah, but if they’re serious they’ll wait. If not invite them to go DNA collecting with you. Once they see what we go through, most are more forgiving.

i. there are bout 10-15 recipes for effectively good pets,,, and about 3 good ones for CH right now, that are shared abd known

Yep. It can take days to make a new recipe. Most people just don’t want to give their efforts away for nothing. Much less have their recipes show up on other vendors a few days after releasing them.

j. now there is no holo grind for jedi, MBE that are here will stay, and very few for the future, this is the base of high qanity of resources, that onced crafted, most tailors, and chefs dont want to pay more then 3-5 cpu/resource unit, this is hard on BE's unless they are scouts, or artisans as well, to mine that resource quanity, which leaves no skills for a combat/defense proffesion. everyone knows that good flora, hide, meat, bone, and ect. goes for 10cpu at start.

There’s a current thread about this whole topic, and there are numerous ones in the past. I think it’s been dragged out for the last 7 months or so. Please don’t take this as some kind of attack. It isn’t. I’m just pointing out that there are people here that have a great deal of fine control over the pet creation process. I myself can usually get the level/specials/resists/HAM that a CH is looking for within 3 tries, and I’m far from being the best pet maker here.

PWS did a good job of commenting on that, but I'll add a couple of my own.

I think the single biggest reason why you don't see more pet-making-be's is because of the "I coulda made a cool mil gunning down cavemen or killing birds in the time it took me to make this pet" thingy. With the way this game has developed, you gotta be "hard core" to be willing to make pets, especially custom ones.

The thing about "most CH's want pets right away" and "most don't stay MCH for long" is correct. But the way to deal with that is to request a long time to make their pet. For a CL 70, I give myself 2 weeks. If they can't wait that long, then that tells me they are not serious about it, and my effort in making it would likely be wasted anyway so it works out.

Popular skins: gurrecks, gurrcats, nargalachs, razor cats, dewbacks, cu-pas, banthas, kimas, kimos (ugh, I only make this in "trash" variety though), grauls, rancors.

I have fun deliberately making primo pets in "non-popular skins" however. I think of it as my contribution to adding to the variety and diversity of the game, lol. Last night I made an uber vesp, just because I could, lol.

not really. back in my prime I could guess levels to a 2/3 level error. the only times I was surprised really was when i got cl15 with armour instead of cl5

a. this is due to changed un-noted and randomly done by developers

I don't think the programming was random at all. There's a formula there somewhere. It might involve a slight random factor in it, but we should be able to get a close approximation as to what the code is really doing.

we are not slicers. our results are down to simple maths questions, the only thing 'random' about are a) the samples themselves and b) the success rate of experimentation and assembly

b. a pet DNA stats combined with sp1/sp2 and damage/attack speed are VERY random

^^ Agree with said comments.

I disagree. In my experience of being a very 'helpful' BE, CHs tend to desire two main categories: Cats (Razor Cats, Gurrecks) and Show Off pets (Woolamanders, Rancors, Kimos). Personal orders tended to be more specialised with a lot of CHs asking for spiders. Non CHs flew off the shelves regardless of skins, although Spats and Banthawere generally preferred.

d. gauging levels for a 2 pet max 35/35 isnt that bad but what skins?

See above
^^ See above and also I've used a, what I like to call, "Guranteed CL20" template in a rancor (result was a cl35 rancor with 60% kinet/ar1 etc ..) and that sold pretty quickly. Double rancors look nice in front of noobs

e. gauging good 3 pet combo 23/23/24 is awesome, but very tedious for what one is willing to pay for it, and then again what skins

I have at least three decent recipes for lvl23 pets that are only second gen. It’s just not that hard. See above.

Decent cl23s can be got from using third generation MH/MH/blah/blah/blah clones.

f. it seems alot of people dont stay with MCH long has no benifits to PvP.

Yep, too true. Met lots of people that got MCH then dropped it a few weeks later.

Very true, only time I saw it was useful was when a CH used plague strike (obviously not a BE pet) on a swimming jedi. Was funny watching the jedi's'ey'es's'eyes's'ss' mind bar rot away

g. I want the CH profession more effective it would help the profession and my sales

Amen brother.

I would love to see giant Pokémon style battles too

h. most dealings with CH proffesions want a pet right now,,, in less then 12-24 hours
Yeah, but if they’re serious they’ll wait. If not invite them to go DNA collecting with you. Once they see what we go through, most are more forgiving.

Those type of people generally make up my /ignorelist. There are plenty of CHs out there who understand that it is a lengthy process and that they will have their pet in a day or so. It's like taking your components to a weaponsmith who tells you that they can have it by tomorrow, you wait and get exactly what you want or you can rush it and end up with crap.

i. there are bout 10-15 recipes for effectively good pets,,, and about 3 good ones for CH right now, that are shared abd known

Yep. It can take days to make a new recipe. Most people just don’t want to give their efforts away for nothing. Much less have their recipes show up on other vendors a few days after releasing them.

I'm quite stupid in that I don't write down recipes and I usually end up thinking "how the hell did i just do that?!" forcing me to inspect my inventory and storage bin to see which dna is missing

j. now there is no holo grind for jedi, MBE that are here will stay, and very few for the future, this is the base of high qanity of resources, that onced crafted, most tailors, and chefs dont want to pay more then 3-5 cpu/resource unit, this is hard on BE's unless they are scouts, or artisans as well, to mine that resource quanity, which leaves no skills for a combat/defense proffesion. everyone knows that good flora, hide, meat, bone, and ect. goes for 10cpu at start.

Most BEs are out there for the big bucks and usually only dabble in pet making as a hobby, I turned into that and I hated it. I regrinded BE purely to make pets and then the darkside of capitalism seduced me and before I knew it I was 45m quid richer and an empty pet vendor to boot. Thats why just before I quit I filled it up with about 20 uber non-ch pets, 30 regular pets and mailed my regulars to check it out.

I gathered my own meat which was one of the reasons i dropped it again - i couldn't compete with other BEs and doctors and chefs. I had to rely on noobs bringing me the odd thousand in the hope i would get enough to make one run of BSNs.

Overall, I would give it a C+, nice work but a little ill thought-out. Also some nasty spelling mistakes.

I know other members of the forum will tell you to look through the vendor list stickied at the top and I would tell you the same. However, the following scenario may have been your case.

1. You have already checked the list.
2. You have already visited my shop.
3. You did not find anything good in my shop.
4. You spit on my vendor and left aggravated.

If thats the case, I apologize for my lack of skill.
If not, please check the stickie and visit my shop and let me know what you think.
