Thread: Bio-Engineers, an Armorsmith's new best friend!
Hiya guys. I have to confess, before this last update I never gave Bio-engineers a second thought. I mostly just grouped then in that same category as Droid Engineers. As an armormith I never had any reason to look very closely at the profession, since it had nothing to do with my own. For those of you who don't know, yet, this has now changed. Whereas before this last update any tissue enhanced cloths and panels had no effect on armor, after this update they now do. Yep, that's right, every single piece of armor in the armorsmith tree requires reinforced panels, and many armors also require synthetic cloth in addition to that. This means that about every piece is eligible for those combat-related tissues, and some armors such as composite can take both kinds on the same piece. I'm not entirely sure if this was intended (hadn't the Devs always said that tissue-enhancements would be an advantage exclusive to clothing?), but for now it is in fact working.
So, that said, I have a few questions. This is a completely new area for me, and I'm completely unfamiliar with how well these tissue modifiers work. The only one I'd heard about as being desirable by combat folks was the anti-bleeding tissues. If I were to use this in a suit of composite (9 pieces), that would be a roughly +90 defense to bleeding. Would this be overkill? Also, I noticed that there are tissues which add to melee and stun defense as well. That same suit of composite crafted with these could achieve a +18 to melee defense and +54 stun defense with a +2/+6 tissue (the only one of that type I've seen). Would this kind of modifier have much affect in combat? I tried a few pieces only, but didn't really notice much. Possibly bad luck (unless the modifiers don't actually work yet, they do, don't they?).I've seen the names of other tissues, too, so are there any suggestions on what I should use? Like I said, this is something that I think I'll be having a lot of fun with in the coming days, I am more excited about this than I was about RIS armor.
Anyways, thanks for any responses to this post. If you know any armorsmiths, let them know about this, since most armorsmiths have no idea this "feature" was added. It should make for some mutually lucrative business.
I sure have. I visited our local BE to purchase some bleeding defense tissues, and on the spot made a pair of Ubese gloves using a reinforced fiberplast panel with his +10 bleeding defense tissue built into it. The final armor carried the +10 bleeding defense through instead of dropping it like it always has. Whether or not this is a bug, well, for now it works. ![]()
not that i dont wish this werentintended, but im afraid it has to be a bug.
we have been told several times that tissues were never intended to work in armor.
sorry ![]()

Ahhh, so there is a cap of 25? That's news to me. So, what else don't I know that I probably should?
