i purchased a second account because I got tired of just fighting but still wanted a "fighting" character.

On this particular character I plan to go Master Doctor/BE.

So far as a doctor everything is "logical" you craft devices to make your crafting experiance. Pretty strait forward.

Bio-Engineer however completely misses this logic loop. I am a bio-engineer I get a skill called SampleDNA. It allows me to take small samples from creatures to then later turn into more creatures. The only problem is this: By the Time I reach DNA 4. Even doing JUST noob creatures out side Mos Espa. I will have only reached 2 0 4 0 in Be.

I have So far completed 40 thousand DNA xp. And have only gained 15k Crafting experiance. I am ONLY crafting the creatures that use the most "meat/organic" To me this is broken. The craft is supposed to be based on sampling creatures and creating stuff. Should not be the rewards for that tedium be higher on the crafting side of things? I'm serious it appears it is almost 10 times under how much experiance you should be getting per craft. OR our exp tree is WAY to high for the crafting phase.

We basically have the same crafting experiance requirements as a Armorsmith/Weaponsmith. While a doctors "med xp" requirement is about 1/3 of that. I really think one of two things really needs to happen.

1. Increase xp gain per creature craft by alot. To where at a minimum you would by the time you hit DNA 4 be able to have 4 in at least 2 of the other paths.

OR

2. Reduce the template requirement for craft XP to something similar to a Doctors requirement.

I think this would severely help people "master" this class considering this has to be the single hardest class to master. (and my Alt is a Bounty-Hunter)

This has been a complaint sence september when they reduced the exp gain from creatures and dna sampling. No word from anyone if they are going to fix that. sorry

Kazrath,

No argument from me there. Actually, I got to sample 4 long long before I got to clone 2, lol.

You can kind of look at the artisan tree and how "survey" works and I think DNA sampling experience is a very similar concept. For those that "play" a BE, dna sampling xp comes pretty easily and quickly. For those that try to "grind", the DNA sampling takes the longest. So you hear both complaints.

Actually, I think the xp in BE would be really well balanced if they simply, let's say, quadrupled the xp you get from creating a creature. I think ideally, advancing in the clone and sampling trees should be roughly the same rate for those that sample and creature their own creatures. On the other hand, as one who finally made it to BE master after 2 months of play, I kind of appreciate the tough climb and am glad to be part of a truly "elite" class where few are willing to do what it takes to master it. In that sense, I'd hate to see them make BE "easy" to master like a lot of others.

The reason you get so little exp from the creature you make is bacause making spiced tea is more complex.

Actually....I thought the reason the exp was so difficult, is that some of us became Masters pretty fast, and the developer team did not want that, as then we would be able to see all the problems.

So they made it very difficult.

Of course some of us will not be stopped, and some of us will help others.
In this game though....those common play styles are alien to the developer team.

I'm glad you didnt take this as a rant.. But as a serious concern. I have spent about the same time working toward my master doctor as I have BE. I ground through the Medic Craft xp in about 2hrs. And got my little brother to take me out killing kimo's so I got the Hunting requirement met in 2 kimo spawns.

Then I started at novice BE. took me about 2hrs to get DNA 1. And about 4k creature craft xp. Took me another 4 to get to DNA 2 and (dont have all the lines memorized... But the one with creatures on it in the first slot) To 1.

In took me about 3hrs to master medic standing in theed (no other med/docs around was nice) unfortunatly had to spend 3 days trying to find enough app xp to actually master.

And I have spent about 5 more hrs on doctor since then.. In doctor I am currently 1 2 1 4.

Basically what I am getting at. is It litterally takes half the time and 1/4 the tedium to play other classes compared to BE. Even the fabled "bounty-hunter" with its 2 master requirements and 40k combat just to novice didn't take me as long as this is going to.

Anyway I really wish the Dev's would take a serious look at not only BE but the droid engies and Chef too. Kinda sad that they have basically 1 "novelty" class in each skill tree.

I seem to be going up fairly evenly 2/2/1/2 (almost to DNA 2) but it takes a lot of grinding which is just dull. There should be another way to get XP than just cranking out micronutrient packs at 105xp a pop, make ~100 for the first bar of each tree (but DNA), then ~300 for the second bar of each tree.

DNA templates are a little better ~200 each then ~75 to make the creature, but this requires a lot of sampling and with days like yesterday where I spend about an hour at 1 lair trying and failing to sample 2 critters, it just isn't going to happen.

We are probably the hardest crafting profession to grind. Why because we need things that are dificult to get. DNA you get about 1/creature, sometimes 2 of 3 if you are lucky (maybe more at higher levels of sampling). We need meat, which means we eithor have to hunt, which means we need a decent amount of a combat profession of CH in order to drop things that give a lot of meat, or we have to spend a fortune for it on the bazar. We also need vegtables which means we eithor have to take up artisan, or buy it, again fairly expensive.

So we are forced to go into the field, about the only crafting prof that is, and no sneaking out to empty the 5 or 10K of stuff out of your harvestor dosen't count. We have to walk up to dangerous critters and poke them with a needle and hope they don't attack and after all this risk we get 1 unit. And on a bad day we fail about 75-90% of the time.

The last two days were notoriously bad. I see a rill, I sample, fail....Sample.....Fail move one.....hey a Gorg, sample....fail..sample.....fail...sample....fail....sit and rest till mind comes back.

I spent so much time failing it got to a point I pulled out my crafting station and started grinding micro sups, in between sampling so the time wasn't a total waste.

Yeha this is a long rant and mostly due to so many failures yesterday.

Also not sure if anyone else saw, but we had a DNA sample button for about an hour, had a starand of DNA on it, kind of cool. I loged out and the loged back in and the button was gone from my tool bar and list of actions.

This is a recent change/bug/nerf apparently. When I was at sampling 0 and 1 I didn't used to really see that many failures no matter what I was sampling. The only thing was that whatever I was sampling would inevitably die after the first sample or if you were lucky 2. I suppose they wanted to make it so that dna noobs couldn't get samples from the uber creatures, and that getting samples took a little longer (like in surveying) but this was totally unnessesary anyway because

1) Even the samples you got from the uber creatures are crap because the stat pairs are so low

2) With critters dying every time you sample em, getting a big supply of samples was already going to taking longer.

So to me this change accomplished nothing other than to annoy the noobs (maybe that was the point, muahahaha, if so, good show!)

Being a doctor I thought you might take a different approach. Your best way to level BE is not making creatures, it's making tissues.

Pump out some crappy LS, CRDM, and BECs with some low qual resources in a factory and then start making Pet Stim packs. That has been the best way for me to level. If you do that, you avoid the need to goto creatures for your resources.... meat, hide, DNA...

It's alot quicker than harving 100 chubas to make 20 Kaadu.

Holy crap. I hadn't looked at what kind of grind it was doing nutrient supplements. This is pathetically easy. My other char is a MAster Armorsmith, now there is a grind. 100 supplements for the first boxes, i can do that in 10 minutes max. But I don't think I'm going to grind this one, burned myself out for awhile on the armorsmith with the grind, just now getting back into him. Take this one nice and slow, unless i need something specific at any point. Resources are a problem for any grind. For my final boxes in armorsmith my harvestors couldn't dig up enough in a day for me to even grind an hour. If you are ineed of meat, grab some friends go to some adventure planet and have some fun, have everyone get meat, and you'll have plenty. Anyway....idle thoughts.

Good point. You know I never thought of that Plageron. I made master well before the august patch, and did it in pretty good time. I never really thought that those of us racing up the ladder would be seen as problem, and that the devs would later nerf us for it. I thought I just got lucky and had taken full advantage of the time of milk and honey.

I went up the ladder making creatures, until I finished cloning 2. Then I broke down and started grinding Micro nutrients, I didn't come back to creatures until the first sets of Muon Gold started appearing on my server. (I got a lot of flames in game because of the puking. I spent a lot of time explaining that it was a side effect) All I could think about was rancor this and rancor that. Little did I know that almost 5 months later I would be still waiting for my payoff.

I hope my actions didn't make a tough road tougher. Any grinding BE's on Wanderhome can look me up for free training and cheaply priced grinding meat/floral, well below common costs.

Actually that wasn't the reason why creature xp was reduced. It wasn't really reduced, they just fixed a bug that allowed us to gain user xp from using our own templates. Awhile back our dev noted that creatures were not giving xp in relation to the time and effort involved in sampling and this is supposed to be changed in the mythical upcomming cloning fix. He then suggested that we swap/sell templates with/to each other to get that uxp back, which doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.
