Thread: Sampling study

I thought I would put up a little sampling study I did tonight. Let me first make a few definitions


good dna = pair 800+ higher on each


elite dna = pair 900+ higher on each


trash dna = any dna not elite or good


eg if it had 804 dex and 923 end, it would be 'good' for the prowess attribute, and if it was 901 intellect, 904 cleverness it would be 'elite' for the mental attribute


I began by sampling 120 dna from yard trash around my shop (worrts, rills etc). I then took that and made 24 blurrg dna templates and from that I got 22 blurrg clones (2 crit failures).


1. First pressing- got 52 trash, 11 good, and 3 elite dna. Note most of the goods and elites were in the psych and fierce attribute pairs, which are the ones which were actually good because of the CL step up.


2. 2nd pressing - turned 50 trash dna into 10 blurrg templates and 9 blurrg clones. Gathered 15 trash, 7 good, and 1 elite dna.


3. 3rd pressing- turned15 trash into 3 templates and 3 blurrg clones. Got 5 trash, one good, and 1 elite dna.


4. 4th pressing- 5 trash turned into one template and 1 blurrg clone. Got 2 trash, 2 good, 1 elite.


5. 5th pressing- 5 trash into one template and blurrg clone. Got 1 good, one trash.


Note that as I went up through the pressings, the dna got progressively better and the yield of good and elite dna improved. So I am pretty sure the DNA sample tracks the stats of the creature. While it is possible to brute force clone up decent DNA, it is probably best to start with wild DNA and press that DNA which doesnt make muster. Throughout this I used some fairly average carnivore meat and domestic rice for the clones, and got 19% on materials each time I tried to make one. Towards the end I made an effort to sort the DNA for decent pair fits. The HAM of the blurrg clones went from around 10k on the first press to around 12k on the 5th press.

These are my favorite types of posts, I wish we had more of them nowadays.


I've seen this before in my crafting experiences, but I never thought to classify them into different styles, I just sepperated it into "generations". Perhaps I should take your class titlesand sepperate out "generational" Dna, right now I have it classed by insertion area only.


I made several "elite" creatures using a generational method and I've noticed that dna does slightly improve down the line. My best Rancor (non baby dna)was a 4th generation rancor origionally from crafted from 2 gens of Kimo and 2 of rancor, with a single set of Peko Peko Albatross Dna thrown in. (when available I gotsome magical numbers on some of that 970 and higher on some matched sets, too bad it's unavailable now)


I got himvery close to14k hamm on two stats and 12.8 on the third with a 71 to hit. but I never got a mythical 14k-15k monster. Maybe your methods will help me out on this quest.

Its not very efficent to do this method though. I am thinking the best way is to sample as high as possible for the first generation blurrg, and actually experiment on the blurrg and take these clones seriously in your attempt to properly pair match. I am a MBE/MCH with over 25% bonus to mask scent from bio clothing, so field sampling the high end stuff is risky, particularly with the new code on incaps and deathblows. A lucky streak on a live Blurrg will put you way ahead of the process.


There also seems to be a bit of a sliding scale on the experiment side. If you take brackaset DNA (CL28-30) from wild creatures and make spats, you will see the experimentation bars going all the way right on the dna template, but if you use yard trash dna on a blurrg template, you will get maybe a 6-7% cap for physique, action, and mind (one box). If you take brackaset DNA and try to make a blurrg, you have around 3-4boxes of experimentation on the template. So there is some smooth transition between (too low DNA) penalties and (too high DNA) bonuses, and the sample you take from a clone seems to be capped by the attributes of the clone.


So tonight Ill gather wild dna from blurrgs and see how much ahead this puts me. Looks like I get on average 2 samples out of a blurrg clone before it vaporizes, so Ill probably get on average 2 samples on a wild blurrg before it smacks me. SInce they are CL50 thats nice dna right from the start, but the real question is this: is it better to start with say raw brack dna which I get at about 4 samples per beast on average, then go through blurrg clone creation. I think for everyone but the BE ranger, the best creatures are going to on average come from clone DNA, since the yield on the super high DNA is going to be bad.

I hadn't thought of sampling Blurrgs to get samples for higher lvl creatures. I tried to sample kimogilas I made a couple times, but I ended up failing about 4 or 5 times, then the kimo disappeared. I think this was because the devs removed the ability to sample from BE kimos. Thanks for the useful info.
